01. MARC COLLIS
“Louder On The Inside” (M.Collis)
Marc Collis .. Vocals/Guitar/Programming
Trevor Carter .. Programming

Marc Collis has always been ready to impress. "I discovered music when I was about 6." explains Marc "I swapped from piano to guitar because my music teacher had one and I asked if I could take it home for the weekend. I started singing and writing my own songs right away." Marc had a special reason to turn to music. He's confined to a wheelchair. His rock group Plunja gained an international record contract with Roadrunner and became
WhiteRoom. Now, still ready to impress, he's going it alone.

Having also studied and professionally worked in acting, musical theatre and film production, Weston has a world of experience behind her. Boyracer have been performing pop music together for most of their young lives. Under the name "Boyz" the trio's first public appearance was at the tender age of 8. Seven years later - still aged just 15 to 18 - they've matured into the hot pop/rock outfit you hear on 'Baby I'm Yours.'. The maturity shows, but so does their youthful appeal. Just ask their legion of female fans!

Lots of fun on stage, they've attracted the help and support
of Melbourne's top hip-hop crew TZU.

Ashley has a classic strong country voice whereas Claire has very much an R&B flavour that blends into their modern cross-over country songs in a way that sets them apart in this hugely popular international market. From humble beginnings in regional Wangaratta, they are now ready to take on the world !

At the 2006 Kool Skools Awards niught Kilburn was chosen to open the night's proceedings and took away two of the night's awards.

Sascha is 18. "I love life and I love making everything a little sexy." She says that her song 'Want You To Want Me' is a coming of age song, about that point in life when you start thinking about other things. 12. THE HEAVE
“Crank It Up” (E.Saloman)
Ed Saloman .. Guitar/Vocals , Hugh Kluger .. Bass Guitar

............................
“How can I break into the music business?” It’s a question that hopeful singers, musicians and songwriters have been asking for decades. Even for major record companies, it’s never been easy to break an act in the marketplace.
There’s never been a question that audiences have a thirst and hunger to hear and see new talent. In recent years television has made an industry out of it. In the long term is the opportunity simply to become famous enough? At what price? There have to be other ways. Surely real talent is still an important piece of the puzzle. One would hope that music is still an art form not just a fame-game.
Studio 52 in Collingwood Melbourne for many years has been engaged in the business of uncovering new talent, in the start simply making their recording facilities available to artists at affordable rates and taking an active interest in what was being recorded. Occasionally signing acts to their own indy label for further development.
Then came Kool Skools, another Studio 52 initiative, where facilities were made available to High School music programs, a concept which over a decade has evolved into a national scheme, where both High Schools and Youth Centres around Australia each produce their own original CD, with young people creating the music and even designing the covers. More importantly, over the course of that decade it’s the participants, the kids themselves, who have taken the initiative. This is something they do at school yes, but here they are making the music they want to make, staying at school to make the music they might want to make AFTER school.
Now thanks to a collaboration between Alpine Electronics Australia and Studio 52 Recordings comes, Alpine Uncovered. This is the cream of what Kool Skools has uncovered … so far … not through bullying participants to conform to the whims and ideals of others, but by allowing these aspiring singers, musicians and songwriters to grow through encouragement, to be what they themselves want to be.
Delta Goodrem and Missy Higgins are two of many performers who were both showcased through Kool Skools on their pathway to success. Alpine Uncovered puts the spotlight on twelve more performers you should hear and hopefully will hear a lot more of in the years to come. They come to you not just saying ‘I want to be famous’, but having been allowed to hone their skills to a point where they can confidently say to you, ‘Just listen’.
