This music is all about the times we live in. Are you having a hard time accepting the wars, the economy, the crass behavior of our leaders, the absence of human kindness in the world? The only real answer to the only real question is: "We gotta love this world". Sometime soon somebody's gotta drop the love bomb... "Madison band Underculture is pretty stubborn about playing it old-school, stripping punk-rock and psychobilly sounds down to spare parts under bassist Blair Clark's mean, motor-oil-gargling vocals. Basic as it seems, the band's sound on its self-titled 2008 EP filled a little gap in Madison's musical needs. The trio follows it with the album Ice Cream Socialism, a beyond-blunt political rant-a-thon. You wouldn't accuse their lyrics of getting all caught up in fancy poetry, either: "Blood Off My Hands" begins with the line "The President woke up in a pool of blood..." and "An Apology" laments Mexico's decline into "a colony of the good ol' USA."
