    Undercurrents - Bloomington's Interests
GeneralOur mission of Undercurrents is to connect fans with bands.

Undercurrents exposes music in many different formats including showcases, e-mails, group postings, and special promotions. Undercurrents also assists musicians with artist development, music services, tips, ideas and an .. outlet for their music.

Since 1989, Undercurrents has provided musicians and bands a vehicle to show their stuff. Our annual international music conference showcased hundreds of artists over the years. In addition, Undercurrents has provided promotional opportunities for music industry professionals with seminars, trade shows, artist development, flyer distribution, annual directories, annual compact disc releases, and networking parties.

But, there are improvements on the horizon including increased artist development, tour swapping, multi city promotions, an internet radio station, merchandise kiosks, and .. distribution.

The Undercurrents mission is simple - bring fans to the bands and showcase bands to the fans. We give music fans a cool new way to discover new music.

Undercurrents is about letting the music speak for itself, and letting the artist speak directly to their fans. We remain committed to the independent musician and will continue to expose new and exciting talent.

Undercurrents exists to help musicians and artists make a living from music. Not only do we prepare aspiring musicians for a career in the music industry, we also train experienced musicians to pass on their knowledge to the next generation.

Undercurrents is one of Americas largest provider of popular music business courses. We have courses running in over twenty towns and cities across North America. Some of these are run direct by Undercurrents with funding from associated sponsors. Others are run in partnership for college credits.

The underlying mission of Undercurrents is to increase the number of people who are actively involved in music at all stages in their lives. We therefore operate a policy of open access and we design our own courses and qualifications to ensure they meet the needs of today's musician.

Undercurrents believes that you cannot run music courses without organizing performance events. We therefore run dedicated regional showcase programs which includes local, regional and national gigs plus an annual National Showcase.

Undercurrents also functions as a music support service. Our Music Industry Consultancy Service is a mentoring service for struggling musicians wishing to pursue a career in the music industry.

    About me:

    MONTHLY MUSIC INDUSTRY EDUCATIONAL FORUMS:

Each month, Undercurrents hosts a music industry educational forum where musicians and other industry people are invited to learn about and discuss the music industry. The topic of discussion changes each month, and covers things like promotion, recording, entertainment law, and record labels. These forums go on each month in each of Undercurrents markets, including Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and of course Bloomington Indiana.

These Forums Are FREE! The goal we are trying to accomplish is educating musicians about the industry so they are better armed to create a career in the industry.

Attendees are encouraged to bring any recorded work they have (if any), as well as show fliars, business cards, and any other swag they want to set on the swag table. This is also a great opportunity to network and make new connections in the local scene.

Keep checking back to this page for details on upcoming forums.

    Looks like I double posted...ooops...

    Anyway.

This is a heads up to you and Undercurrents Artists:

Pony Express Productions is in the PreProduction planning stages of a series of short films, most likely to be edited as a miniseries.
Keeping in touch with our mission to provide exposure and services to local aspiring musicians, I would like to make the soundtrack of the series all local music.
We are looking for music of all genres and styles for the soundtrack. From rap, indie, classical, rock, acoustic, ambient, to metal, we would like to have a diverse and moving soundtrack that also serves as a promotional vehicle for the bands involved.

As I said before , we are entering preproduciton planning stages and will not begin shooting for some time now. There is a good chance this will be aired on a local channel, and it will be submitted to several contests and film festivals.

If the demand is high enough, we will release the soundtrack for sale also, so it would also be a chance to be on a compilation.

And on a side note, anyone interested in light engineering, audio engineering, camera work, acting, promotion, editing etc., please contact Pony Express through the myspace

    Thanks!

Nice to know our "non-name" is out there!

And i may just take you up on your 2nd camera offer. I have to see what my upcoming gigs want as far as a production, but if they wanna go the live music vid route, a 2nd camera is a must.

And if you need another speaker at the promotion forum, let me know. Ive done a shit ton of promotion for serveral bands, am very active in online band booking and networking, and between CJ and I, we pretty much know what were talking about on the local/regional indie scene.

    Much Love!
