UNDERGROUND NETWORK DJ LOUIE VEGA, WARMING UP THE SOUND FACTORY BAR IN '94. HISTORY WAS MADE!!!
THE UNDERGROUND NETWORK started in 1992 in New York City @ a nightclub called Savage/Elite. It was created out of the need to bring the dance community together by showcasing artist for major & indie- record labels. The enormous talents of Singers, DJs, Song Writers, Record Producers, Musicians & Dancers were being used but always in the shadow of so-called main stream music. We decided to dedicate one night per week as "The First Dance Music Industry Night" ever created. There were no weekday events, parties or showcases for our music scene on a weekly basis. In our second year we moved to the Sound Factory Bar where International Dance Diva Barbara Tucker & myself took the event to another level. With the support of DJ/Producer Louie Vega who recently won a Grammy Award for reproducing Curtis Mayfield's timeless hit "Superfly", and spectacular "Super Bowl" pre game performance, and a wonderful staff we became a household name in the Dance Community around the world. In our brief history we have showcased over 600 artist, 150 DJ's and 50 Dance Troops. We also took our show on the road, from Europe to Asia, Canada & to cities across the U.S. Back In NY bringing celebrity music lovers together from Ru Paul to Janet Jackson, Queen Latifah to Ice T, Wesley Snipes to The Wayans Brothers, Nile Rodgers to Morris Day, Debbie Harry to Brian McKnight, MC Lyte to Salt & Peppa, Crystal Waters to Jay Leno, Johnny Gill to Jerry Springer just to name a few. The soul singer Teddy Pendergrass, will receive a public viewing in Philadelphia on Jan. 22, 2010 his press representatives said. The viewing for Mr. Pendergrass will take place at 10 a.m. at the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church in Philadelphia. His funeral will be held there on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m., followed by his burial at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, Pa. If you plan to attend please give yourself extra time to arrive as early as you can. Because there will be attendance from all over the world.
