Under the Pink Carpet has best been described as the alternative TV version of "Entertainment Tonight" hybridized with "The Daily Show." Fast paced and informative, the program features coverage of Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Transgendered (LGBT) influenced music, theatre, film, television, and special events. Entertainment reports include interviews with high profile celebrities as well as personalities from the realm of underground and cutting edge LGBT entertainment.
But Under the Pink Carpet is more than just entertainment news.The show realistically and sometimes critically examines many aspects of the LGBT subculture, providing a no holds barred glimpse behind the facade of a "fabulous" lifestyle.
Under the Pink Carpet is seen on the Out TV cable network in Canada and Australia. In the USA the series is on PBS stations, cable stations and FSTV (Free Speech TV)dish satellite.
The show is produced and directed by Tony Sawicki, who also serves as primary correspondent. Also featured as news / entertainment correspondents are Drag Diva personality Clover Honey (the first and only Transgendered reporter on national TV!), Lesbian comedian and performance artist Robin Cloud, and attorney, producer and self-described "Fag-Hag" Stephanie Butler.
The mission of Under the PINK Carpet is to entertain and educate about the LGBT Community and to give exposure to Out artisits and supportive individuals and establishments.
