Under Threat started out in january'1994 initially as a two-piece band formed by Emerson on guitar/vocals and Claudinei on drums. Based on São Paulo, Brazil, the intention of the group was to play fast hardcore punk music into the D.I.Y. ethics as an apropriate way to express it's ideas. Very influenced by old Scandinavian hardcore and mainly English punk bands, Under Threat used to play the so called "crust" on a time when the style was not a trend. Along the years the band put out some records (some which released by themselves), played some very few gigs and was through several line-up changes. The problems related to the line-ups was always a constant in the history of the group, even to nowadays. Under Threat is not an "ideological" kind of band although it's band members (current and past ones) can stand for socialist or anarchist beliefs. The state of deep decadence of life on the planet through the destruction of the environment, the collapse of the natural resources, the increasing poverty of the populations bred by degradation of the labour relations and technological progress worldwide, the social conflicts, the possibility of a nuclear war resulting on mankind's annihilation, etc, all this has inspired the band's name also as most of the lyrics that deals with the topic of the human condition. As an iconoclast band, Under Threat stands against the idolatry and the "Rock Star" kind of attitude, refusing the exhaustive promotion of it's band individuals and had always did rather keep the focus on the ideas through it's music, lyrics and artwork concepts instead. Even after all these years of existence, Under Threat has kept it's roots on the underground community as also kept true and honest to it's ideas from the very first. Note: Due to many difficulties, most of the band's materials were released with years of delay. It means that the recordings related are a lot older than the records'date release!
