Undertow is a Chicago based trio consisting of Josh Beatty (saxophones, member of Microcosmic Sound Orchestra), Michael Baker
(bass), and Henry Mayer (drums). Their music incorporates a wide variety of influences - they spend as much time
rocking, grooving or improvising as they do swinging (sometimes more). Although the members of the band come from different
musical backgrounds, they don’t hide their various influences, but filter them through a collective sensibility of musicality and form. Undertow formed in 2004 and has played at a variety of places around Chicago.
hi michael! the turnout for the IVAW benefit was awesome, and i really enjoyed meeting you. i couldn't stay till the end, so hopefully i will get to hear you guys when i come back to chicago in the spring! cynthia.
