Hakkımda: Underworld Library is an imprint for new comic books by Mike Hoffman, outspoken darling of the Comics/Fantasy Art worlds.
U.L. is for everyone, but especially for folks who bailed out of Comics years ago, could care less about superhero movies, who wouldn't be seen dead in a Comic shop, and who get a queasy feeling any time Marvel or DC gets in the News.
If you like mainstream comics, yer invited anyway--you'll see what yer missing.
The flagship U.L. title is Minister Sinister, its "hero" hails from an anti-world that mirrors Earth but has a moral system opposite to our own. Their Society is in decay--like ours, but in an opposite direction, towards "good", and they don't like it. A "Minister" is sent to Earth to recruit useful citizens, i.e., criminals and malcontents. It always sounds dumb when ya just hear the plot, but what happens from there gets even loopier. Squid Girl and Madame Tarantula have been published previously, but the new incarnations are more homogenous, more fully realized and just plain better all around.
Other titles have been bouncing around for years tryin' to bust out: Super Clowns kayos the absurd idea that a cultural treasure, clowning, is "scary". This time it's the clowns who are scared.
Or, you might try Ghost Surfer or Moose Lodge Supermen. Or even Urban Deities or The Heaven Seven. These are designed to be pure Comics, no fashionable fads, no revolting trends, no "Batman standing over a grave in the rain" stuff. Comics like they just don't make anymore.
The underlying theme of all U.L. books is Decay, something that most Americans should be able to relate to nowadays.
It ain't a "universe" anymore--it's an Underworld.
