UNDO is the name I use for my solo performances and recordings. In UNDO, I play “unguitar” – a rather nerdy term I coined in 1990 to describe my approach to my ambient guitar playing. The term tries to capture two ideas for me: 1) that in UNDO I try to just follow instincts rather than "do" ideas; and 2) while I play guitar, what you hear doesn’t really sound like a guitar as I use little pedals and delays to make very un-guitar-like sounds.
Generally my themes slowly evolve and intertwine, allowing listeners to use the music as a soundtrack to the images playing in their head. I like if listeners have their own mental imagery to accompany their experience of this music. I like to slow things down. The time between when things happen makes this magical space I like to hold open as long as I can.
As I have many hours of UNDO music recorded, I plan to update the tracks here periodically. If you want to hear something new, just send me an e-mail. If you want a lot more, I'm sure we can make arrangements for a CD or two.
