My name is Uni Arge and I was born in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, in 1971. In 1999 I graduated as a journalist and ever since I’ve been working as a journalist for various medias and companies. I also look back on a career as a professional soccer player. From 1992 to 2002 I played with the Faroese national team and scored 8 goals in 37 caps.
In 2004 I published my first book, "Komin er nú onnur øld," and on the 29th of Oct. 2007 I released my first solo album “Mitt í sjónum,” which both means “In the middle of the ocean” and “In the middle of visions.” The title expresses very well my state of mind and my present situation. I’m sitting on these tiny islands thinking and writing about all sorts of things that I see and experience. I’m writing about love, insecurity, determination, rainy days, crossroads in life, narrow minded islanders and everything else that comes to mind.
Of course I’m influenced by the music that I grew up with. I loved The Beatles, John Lennon, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, ELO, Frændur, Kári P., Simon & Garfunkel and still do. Nowadays I admire Teitur, Eivør Pálsdóttir, Lena, Budam and all those great talents who make us Faroese so proud.
Ever since I learned to play the guitar as a 11 year old I dreamed of making a record with my own material. Many of my friends are great musicians and helped me make my dream come true with “Mitt í sjónum.”
Today I'm working on my second album, which will be a little bit different musically than the first one. I'm heading for a more accustic sound with my voice even more present than on "Mitt í sjónum." Confidence is growing, you know, and I can't wait to get the album out.
I think I was born to express myself in every way possible, so that's what I have decided to do!

Hey Uni! Væl vald orð í fótbólts teiginum... hoyrdi annars frá einum yngri tónleikara, at "Uni gjørdi fríspark tá hann skoraði"... hetta var sjálvani málverjin hjá teimum yngri, ið vísti sína ónøgd... nú fari eg í holt við at lesa um politiska skili í Føroyum! :)
