"The sentiment is visibly and audibly obvious. On their split 7 inch with Baby Guts and their forthcoming full length debut, We Are the Mages of Beauty, Unicorn Basement are motivated by the absurd splendors of being alive. Within their buzzsaw synth loops dwell life-affirming vibrations that rattle like so much window glass. In their lyrics, one hears the delirious, almost shamanistic incantations of a pagan priest as they name check Notorious B.I.G. and dead deer in subsequent breaths. Their beats drone and grind, ascending from corroded Atari circuits to dance club grooves. It is synthesis of the highest order, and it double-dog dares you to dance." - Citypages
"Just when I think I know everything about music, I get thrown for a loop. Part New Wave, part punk and part noise rock, Unicorn Basement is an experimental synth duet who are as quirky as Zappa, but their low-fi synthetic sound is more accessible than the king of proto-punk.
With influences as vast as Stereolab to Bowie, they are well versed in the art of musical experimentation. Yet, akin to the Velvet Underground, the music is not complex. But rather they rely on simplicity versus intricacy, which makes them a fun listen."

"Unicorn Basement have taken a giant handful of glitter and Elmer’s glue to their collection of keyboards and drum machines to create a scuffed up electro sound that excludes no one."

If you're around on Thursday, December 10th, we are playing a show at Mario's Keller Bar. I don't know if you've been there, but it's a very cool place. It's a comfortable space, the room sounds great and they have a stellar beer selection.
Also, we will be playing ALL NIGHT! We'll play some funky, bluesy, and soulful music. We'll project live video onto a 9 ft screen. We'll play some older material that hasn't been heard in awhile, as well as some brand new songs that've never been heard. All bets are off!! We'd love it if you'd come down and listen/party with us!
I just wanted to stop by and wish you a happy Sunday! I hope that the weekend brought you fun adventures, relaxation, and contentment :)
I was going to go camping this weekend, but this is definitely NOT camping weather. So me and some friends went to check out Dueling Pianos. Those guys are amazing - they can play just about any song that's been on the radio between 1950 and 2005.
Anyways, I wanted to let you know about a show we have @ Station 4 on Friday, October 16th. We are debuting a series of one time only performance art pieces. This one is called "AN OBJECT TO CRAVE". Live music and visuals based on a short story about life, love, loss, fantasy, obsession and death.
Another group of mine, The Magnetrons, which plays an exciting and innovative Livetronica set (i.e. STS9, Disco Biscuits, The Histronic) will also be playing. The night will be full of creative, interesting, high-energy music, good drinks and good times.
Here's the info:
