UP

Helium was started by Gustav Kalbo (born 1989) in the autum of 2005 and he asked his friend Andreas Johansson (born 1990) to join, who asked Niklas Johansson (born 1990) to join. The three of them met and desided that Niklas would play the guitar, Gustav the bass and Andreas were to sing. Now all they needed was a drummer. They knew this guy from school named Alexander Johansson who soon joined them. Some other members came and went but in the end it was still only Alexander, Andreas, Gustav and Niklas left. The started a new band together more than just changing the name to Unplugged (In Unplugged they played their own songs and in Helium they simply played covers).

At that point Zagen Jonsson (born 1990) was the lead singer of a Thrash Metal band called Graveyard. Zagen wasn't that much in to metal but mostly played with Graveyard to be on stage and having a band. He decided to quit Graveyard and find something else. He was mostly into skate punk like blink-182 and rock n' roll like Backyard Babies at that time and was interested in playing the guitar. He went to see Unplugged play live downtown in Borås and got a desire to join the band although he couldn't yet play the guitar. But he had just gotten to know Andreas Johansson at that time and after the show he, Andreas, Gustav and some more people went to Zagen's place. Zagen overheard Andreas and Gustav talking about finding another guitarist and emediatly asked if he could join.

Eventually Unplugged splitted due to Andreas Johansson and Alexander Johanssons departure, evolving from the fact that they couldn't stand to play in the same band as each other. Gustav, Nicke and Zagen thought about alternatives and all of them wanted to continue to play with Andreas. So they desided to start a new band with him, playing a direction of music that Unplugged tended to aim for at the end. They wanted to name the new band something that could be shortened to "UP" sinse Zagen and Gustav both bought 50 picks each with the signature "UP". They desided to name the band UP inofficiolly standing for Unidentified People. They found the drummer Philip Ohlsén (born 1990) very soon and it all fell to pieces.
