In rock music today, it is hard to dodge the over dramatics, the thrashing guitars, and the overall imitation of the past. A little old-school can rock. A little theatrics is amusing. And a wild show can always be energetic. But it's all about finding the right way to do it all. Union City Blue keeps it calm- but heavy, simple- but emotive, and straight forward- yet heartfelt.
Union City Blue formed roughly around late 2003. The bass player has changed numerous times but the three others have always been together. Carsten is recognized not only for his ability to play lead-guitar, piano, bass, and front the band as the vocalist, but even more so for his writing. Carsten has been writing since he was eleven. From then, his writing has gone through some substantial changes. Carsten writes songs about love and growing up, and always keeps the lyrics vague enough so there is room for the listeners version of the story. "Nobody's story is the same, no matter how similar it can be. I think it's only fair to keep my songs and their meanings simple enough so everybody can relate," says Carsten.
Colin, Carsten's brother, is responsible for rhythm guitar in the band. Although Carsten had been playing instruments since five, it wasn't until his older brother Colin started playing guitar that the rock band came to life. Colin backs the band with his rhythm parts and sings background vocals that blend naturally with his brother's. Then there's Adam. Adam as a drummer is much different than any other you will hear. Like the other members, he is colorfully influenced by any kind of music that appeals to him. Whether it's a digital techno-beat, or complex metal part, Adam can integrate his artistic view of drumming into Union City Blue. With flawless timing and a strong chemistry with Carsten, Adam picks parts that you've never heard before, without the trendy overkill.
Union City Blue will always be there to do what they love, and perform it for the listener. They will always move you with their alternative rock flavor, energetic shows, and their love to entertain. If you want a band that can define every type of rock in the world today, leave it to Union City Blue. But their ticket to success is to play what they play best- just plain rock.

This is Nathan. i dont know if you remember me but like 2 years ago you guys played in arabi louisiana at the goondocks and i was one of the kids at the first and second shows there. just stopping by to say you guys are still amazing and i still listen to your old cds i bought at those shows and you guys still influnence me a whole lot.
