Take a look at your life, accept that things are as they are, and work to make them better.
That is the core belief that shapes the words and music of UNION OF LANTERNS, acoustic indie pop rock
troubadours hailing from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Armed with acoustic (and sometimes electric) guitars, the
high-fiving, thought-provoking duo of Thomas Scott and Darren Watts pack a lyrical and melodic punch that leaves
you drooling for more.
Inspired by so many bands and artists before them, Union of Lanterns learned what they could from their
predecessors. They were students of music, and their teachers were many great, and diverse bands and artists:
Radiohead, Coldplay, Oasis, Elton John, Tori Amos, Dashboard Confessional, Travis, Dave Matthews Band, and many
more. The sounds and sentiments of their pop and rock forefathers were not overlooked, and the band absorbed as much
of it as they could while writing their first album.
The result? The band's first, totally independent, self-produced album, "Truth (If You Want It)", is a unique blend
of catchy lyrics and hooks, original and exciting acoustic guitar riffs, awe-inspiring harmonies, and soaring
melodies that make you melt and want to embrace the same enthusiasm for life that the band possesses. It is
a collection of 14 very diverse songs - songs about love, addiction and suffering, peer pressure, and an undying
optimism for all things good in life... as the title track would suggest, "if you want it, you can have it".
So prepare yourself... you are bearing witness to the spark that will soon erupt into an unstoppable wildfire - an
awesome musical energy that will make you want to pump your fist in the air and fight the good fight. This album
is the first of many great things that you can expect from the Union of Lanterns, a band that has no
limitations, and no intention of ever being satisfied with what they've already accomplished. This is a band that always works to make things better than they've ever been. And that's the truth (if you want it).

Thanks man. I like your stuff as well; you and Tom seem to play very well off of eachother. I like knight in shining armor. It's got that haunting thing going on.
We should play a song at one of the bomber open mic nights together (if that's ok with you guys of course). I think Casimir Pulaski Day by Sufjan Stevens would sound great with the addition of extra guitars and vocalists, but I'm utterly open to suggestion.
Thanks man, You're stuff sounds neat too. Yeah, recording can be hard work sometimes-but I'm sure we will find a way to keep it enjoyable. Hopefully we'll run into you guys sometime at a show or something.
