You see this woman above this text? If you seen The Color Purple, then you should know she's the voice of Shug Avery. She is an awesome vocalist. I can safely say she is one favorites.
I have an eclectic taste in music. I love R&B, Gospel, Pop, some Soft Rock, a little Country, and smidget of Rock and Roll.
Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Janet Jackson, Eric Benet, Luther....his first name is enough, Whitney Houston (still do), Aretha Franklin, Shirley Caesar, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, Rick James (may he rest in peace), Teena Marie, Alicia Keys, Jodeci, Troop (now I'm getting old school..lol), Tamela Mann, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Missy Elliott, Tina Turner, Isley Brothers, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Peabo Bryson, Hall and Oates, and some serious old school country of Patsy Cline....(yes, I like Patsy!....beautiful voice).
Now to the revision….Once you know me, I am one of the coolest, down-to-earth person, you could meet. I don’t pretend anything more of who I am. I am “me”, the only way I know how. I also speak my mind when time comes for me do so. So, every now and then, I will post a blog with one of my legitimate bitching.
I also have a passion for writing. Not only I love to create story ideas, but writing calms my soul. I hope someday to publish a book or write a screenplay. Lately, there have been three story ideas swimming in my head. When this happens, I can’t sleep. It’s like a movie playing in my head. It won’t stop until put it on paper. And that for now, will have to wait until I graduate in December of 2009.
Oh yes….I am single mother in her late thirties attending college full-time. With this recession, I advise anyone whether they’re 18 or 88, to go back to school and learn something. Like Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company, says, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young”.
After caring for my mother, who has Multiple Sclerosis, and my Grandparents, I am finally able to move on with my life. It was hard, but I overcame through the highest and toughest obstacles. It didn’t kill me; it only made me stronger woman.
I also have been through tumultuous relationships that made me question to this day about the love I had for me which affected my choices in men…but none of that anymore. I had to learn to LOVE myself…I had to get to know “me” all over again.
Yet, my proudest achievement is being “Momma”. Like I wrote earlier, I am a single mother of two boys (19 and 18) and a 12-year-old daughter. They were the reason why I out of bed every morning to continue to face another day of caring for my sick relatives. I could have easily gave up or felt sorry for myself, but my babies, wouldn’t allow that for me.
Finally, I am a curvy woman. I did lose over a 100lbs, but due to the stress of my Grandfather’s final year on earth in 2007, I nibbled to ease my emotions. Therefore, I gain most of weight back. As of now, I am getting back into the groove of things. Doing this for the second time is a lot harder…..I mean freggin’ hard! But it’s a challenge, so I’m gonna do this. Despite those doubters and haters ( ta hell with ‘em).
So, there you have it. My simple but honest “About Me”. In short, I am creative. I am sensitive. I am a deep thinker. I won’t bite my tongue unless I have to. I am compassionate. Sweet. Kind. Loving…I am “Unique”….Being me the best way I know how…Take it or leave it!

I would like to meet the strong and the innovator of their own lives. I admire the determined, the down-to-the-earth, the well-grounded, and the open-mind. You should never accept mediocricity. Had anyone iconic figure in our history accepted anything mediocre. Free your mind and expand on your dreams….

With the top down, the sounds of the ocean waves mixed with the soul of my 8 track player
Michael Jackson crooned, “I Wanna Be Where You Are”
My Blues bled into the dark sky
My eyes were on the road but, I see her at every mile marker, and with every star that sparkled above
I pushed on the gas as my heart raced
Where am I going?
Anywhere she might be
Teasing my soul hoping she was headed to me
Whoooo… I took that corner too fast
Slow down and live with the memories
My 8 track player switches songs and my mind flips and trips as
Michael Jackson sings, I Wonder Who Lovin' You
I fight the winds from blowing me over into on coming traffic
I fight my heart and mind and stay focused as push buttons on the 8 track, The Jackson 5 sing, “The Love You Save May Be Your Own”
I pass slow traffic and get on the straight and narrow and reminisce
Like when we were lovers in the night
She is sitting on my love
Her hands spread on my chest
Her lips and eyes smile
Feeling my love
We were cruising after we had climbed a mountain
I’m watching her mountains rise and fall, and drip on me
She and I create streams that lead to her river
I hold on to her firmly
I sing along with Michael Jackson, “Never Can Say Goodbye”
Whoooo… I almost ran off the road
I’m squeezing the driving wheel with all my might; my hands are numb
I look to the passage seat
I’m alone on this lonely hi-fi-hi-way
I check my seat belt, adjust my mirror, and try to adjust to the fact…she is gone
I turn the 8 track up, and hit repeat… and again
Little Michael Jackson sings, “I wanna Be Where You Are”
I hit the gas and head home

I reflect on what an honor it world be for any father to celebrate with you
If it was me, or that father you have known, and do know, on this day, to share with you, looking at you, and hearing you, perhaps being pampered by you
This moment in time a blessing to be cherish for a lifetime
You supporting and encouraging fathers, as in the man I’m trying to be,
I am only as good as the woman who is near me, talking to me, thinking about me, and helping me in the best or worst times
I see you happy in love to please me
An you do please me
A responsible man I strive to be
And as all men should feel, those little things you do, mean so much in making me the man I am
Yet I am not a perfect man and you are still there for me
As a determined father I am trying to give the full spectrum of manhood to my blood and all others who look up to me or need me
As an uncle, cousin, grandfather, friend, mentor, when it is time
I display firmness but with a loving touch, a man in touch with his emotions
Emotions I does not suppress for the image of false strength
For the strongest man is a man who is willing to show his inner self
Whether a tear or a cheer
Whether seething anger or a soft embrace
I wear my heart on my sleeve
My tears drip alone or in front of many
For the finest man is simple a man with a deep soul
Yet I am only as good as the woman who is there for me
She is a good man’s backbone
So on Fathers Day, it is our day
Let celebrate together
If not me, there is a father to be honored, and he is blessed to have you
cr@2009 Alvin Lloyd Alexander Horn, Here is a passage from my best selling romantic novel, BRUSH STROKES, order your copy @ Amazon.com
“A man may admire what a woman does for a living; he may admire her education and social circle. He may be enamored with her physical beauty, but he only truly falls in love, with the softest and warmest part of her, her soul.”

Through The Window
The same window and the same view
Diluted by a heart once true
The grass was brown but viewed as green
The sky was black though blue was seen
The rain poured down each sunny day
Though skin felt wet hopes eyes betrayed
The world is not what once believed
Happiness shown was not retrieved
Close the shades and return to sleep
Shut down a mind that thinks too deep
The scenes the same in dark or light
Believed as good in black or sight
Sometimes ones faith can dissipate
A solid turned to gaseous state
Hope was dissolved within clogged air
Too many fates existing there
A cloud of smoke survives within
By bitter gasp its taken in
Coughs can’t relieve the empty pain
That saw the sun within just rain
Windows deceived a heart of hope
With sincere view mind couldn’t cope
Ignored what’s true as light of day
Painted sunlight where there’s just gray
Window open, window closed
Eyes awake or eyes disposed
One’s hands can’t shut the vacant view
And lonely eyes now see what’s true
The world is full of black and gray
Pain grows in strength each passing day
Eyes hold new view, a different scene
Windows the same, but truth is seen

Liquid makeup from your heart
Waters your outer beauty, growing you up
You are blooming
You are growing resistant to failure
Your soul reaches down and spreads
The winds of troubled times
Makes you dance when lesser beings fall down

Falling for an unknown past
Handfuls of still photographs
Shot long ago, camera naïve
Its view of love, never received
Exposures stored throughout the years
Of lovers known that disappeared
Moments snapped became embedded
Pictures etched were then regretted
Stored moments, "Once upon a times"
Of fairytales and nursery rhymes
"Lonely ever after", stories ended
Novels survived, though not as intended
Once kissed each prince became a frog
All toads that jumped love log to log
Leaped from a heart misunderstood
Princess was viewed as only wood
Photos faded, books are closed
Film of love has been exposed
Forever lives within dark rooms
Knights are frogs within costumes
True queens don’t find their destined kings
Flash flicks and kings become just flings
A foggy lens now blurs the script
Love is 2D and fate was gypped
