The picture is of Kalu Rinpoche (1905-1989), the founder of our Dharma Center in Kauai and many others throughout the world. Kalu Rinpoche was proclaimed by the Dalai Lama as `The greatest meditator of this century`. He is the lineage holder of the Shangpa tradition in his current rebirth as Yangsi Kalu Rinpoche. The resident Lama of the center now is Lama Tashi, an American born Lama, who completed his traditonal 40 month retreat about 20 years ago. The main practice of the center is Green Tara but any requested practice is joyfully taught at the time of class. Come visit soon. Classes at the center are on Wednesday nights and are taught in English with Tibetan Mantras. Very informal. There is no donation expected from those who are unable.
There are no formal trainings required to attend meditations. We are Shangpa lineage but invite lamas from all traditions to teach. Lama Tashi believes if you are in class it is because you have already done profound practice in a numerous former lifetimes. Empowerments are given towards the end of class for those who request to recieve them in order to do a deity yoga as a daily practice.
