"From start to finish this EP delivers. It is a cavalcade of massive percussion and desperate shredding guitars. I cannot fault this in any sense and my only regret is that I cannot listen to it more than I already have. United Fruit have produced an EP that has sewn seeds of their potential and it is going to grow into something of epic yet effortless proportions."
(Glasgow PodcART - August 2009)
"Rather urgently abrasive five track EP from this immediate Glasgow four piece. Tightly wound jagged guitars and new wave post hardcore angular hardcore noise-rock goodness that bites down hard.. .Reptile Mistress indeed, a demanding sound, a wired sound, all creeping in from different angles and gooseberries jarring with blackberries and lemons and bananas and experimental visceral intensity and we like this lots... all discordant and jagged and nagging at your head to eat your oranges and your Fugazi and your Shellac and your Mclusky and... yes... go grab your united fruit, five a day needed, obey your mistress, strenght of character."
(Organ Magazine - 19/07/2009)
"... a must for current fans and curious ears alike, with all five tracks serving as the perfect introduction to one of Glasgow's most exciting new acts. From the frantic smashing of drums on opener Push it, to the grooving experimentation of Final Test, this EP bears an intelligence and glaring rawness which challenges rock convention, yet is short and powerful enough to catch your attention and crawl under your skin. Inspired by the experimental stylings of Sonic Youth and Shellac, while remaining refreshingly original, this is an effort worth investigating."

"... Shake captures them at their feral best, thanks in no small way to some nice work by the infamous Chem19 studios in Hamilton. It's a boorish stomp, initially more paced than much of their other material, but eventually escalating into barely restrained fury. B-side Eye Hell View is a trans-European interpretation of Sonic Youth and could arguably have been a strong single in its own right. Very promising stuff. "

"A noisy glaswegian quartet that you need in your life. If you like it discordant and a wee bit nasty United Fruit is the name of the band [...] Pretty damn good!"
Vic Galloway, BBC Radio 1, 2 April 2009
“I’ve seen them live. They are outstanding, really tight, really in your face. If you like Jesus Lizard, Shellac, maybe even at the Drive-in then you’ll love these guys. Go and see them live and get the EP Mistress, Reptile Mistress!”
Vic Galloway, BBC Radio Scotland, 10 Aug 2009
"One of Glasgow's most exciting new acts."
The Skinny, 22 June 2009
“As the set progresses, they show why they are such a unique and exciting band […] United Fruit made a massive impact on the crowd from their first song. Even this early on, I could tell these guys were different […] United Fruit, in space of 40 minutes, showed me why they’re heading for massive things […] Glasgow’s hottest band.”
The Big M, November 2009
"Taking notes from the rawness and haunting melody of grunge era noisemakers such as Sonic Youth, Pixies, and Shellac to name a few, Glasgow four-piece, United Fruit, are currently doing the rounds on the city’s underground scene and making a lasting impression as well as one hell of a noise [...] barely a year in, the bands’ momentum seems only to be picking up."
The List, 24 March 2009
"Their palette might fall somewhere in the ballpark of Sonic Youth's experimental wiles and the visceral intensity of At the Drive-In, but they've a hungry, raw sound all of their own [...] With a tight set, constant gigging and unwavering enthusiasm, it seems Glasgow might not be the only city to sample United Fruit in the not-so-distant future."
The Skinny, 26 Feb 2009
"As any attendee at one of their many recent Glasgow performances will tell you, United Fruit's rapid realisation of their potential, especially live, has been nothing less than remarkable [...] It's a boorish stomp [...] escalating into barely restrained fury."
The Skinny, 30 Sep 2008
"a brazen rhythm section [...] discordant guitars and jagged, melodic screams [...] this is concrete evidence that good noise is alive and well in Glasgow."
The Skinny, 16 Feb 2009
