Unity Church of Middletown is in the process of forming an Earthcare Ministry. In recent years the Association of Unity Churches International recognized a grassroots interest within the Unity congregations "to express Unity's belief in our oneness with all of divine life in ways that directly care for our planet home". As in so many areas in Unity, we saw the importance of "walking the talk!" The Unity Earthcare International vision statement reads, "All humanity lives in a spiritual consciousness that manifests as loving co-existence with all creation and care for our Earth home."
UCOM Earthcare team will work within our congregation to make our building and operations as environmentally sustainable as possible. It will also engage sustainability efforts within the greater Louisville community. We act so that every step on our planet home and through our life here is an active prayer for all of the divine creation."
: Each Year UCOM observes the Seasons of Peace and Non-violence. Last year the Association For Global New Thought, the pioneer in founding of SPNV, launched the Seasons in such a way that we celebrate them year long! The Seasons we now observe:
-- Gandhi, King, Chavez Season for Nonviolence (January 30th-April4th)
--Season For The Earth: April-June
--Season for Humane Service: (June-August)
--Season of Interfaith Celebration (Sept-Dec)

In ancient Hawaii, the process of purging emotions and limiting beliefs of one's self was highly honored. These thought forms were viewed as "black bags" that, when suppressed within, block the gateway into the higher dimensions and the connection with the light. Individuals were encouraged to embrace and release anger, sadness, fear and guilt – the four horsemen of personal apocalypse. Rather than viewing one as "breaking down" when these emotions presented themselves, it was viewed as breaking through - breaking through internal barriers blocking the way to communion with the Higher Self.
In our Western culture, we are taught quite the opposite. We have been socialized to "push down" these black bags when they emerge. Suppressed emotions lead to mental and physical dis-ease. These black bags become “bundled up” in our physical neurology, blocking the flow of life force energy. This can lead to a restriction of the flow of energy and impact us not only at an emotional level; they can impact our physical body's health and wholeness. Isn't it time you breakthrough to break free and live fully in the light, the soul you were born to be?
Come and journey through a sacred meditation on forgiveness of self. Perhaps you will find wings with which your spirit can soar.

Welcome to the My Space page for Unity Church of Middletown. Unity Church of Middletown was founded in 2002 by Rev. Carole Mahaffey, an ordained Unity minister. Rev. Carole was teaching a class at The Clifton Center when attendees urged her to form a new church. After prayer and meditation on the idea, with a $200 dollar donation from her aunt and uncle, and and a handful of attendees UCOM was born. Seven years later Unity Church of Middletown has grown into a vibrant congregation of 100 plus members and attendees and growing each week.
ABOUT UNITY
Unity is a world-wide interdenominational Christian organization founded more than 100 years ago and headquartered in Lees Summit, Missouri.Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual's right to choose his or her own spiritual path. Though often confused with other organizations, Unity has no connection with Unitarianism or the Unification Church.
Unity has no man-made creed or dogma. Rather, it seeks to find Truth in Scripture and meaning beyond the literal translation. Unity proclaims the divinity of Jesus, but goes further in belief that we, as children of God, are too divine in nature. To us, Jesus lived as the highest expression of divinity and Oneness with God, expressing salvation as the understanding and acceptance of one’s innate divinity.
There is a light that shines in Silent Unity 24 hours a day. This light represents a spiritual light generated by more than 100 years of constant prayer.Silent Unity is often referred to as the heart of the Unity movement, and for many people, it is a heart that beats in rhythm with our world. Personal journeys and human history have been enveloped in prayer for more than a century, including world wars, natural disasters, and social upheavals. Visit Silent Unity at
Once called the "religion of healthy-mindedness" by the philosopher, William James, the New Thought movement was born almost 150 years ago. New Thought represents an umbrella of similar spiritual traditions of which Unity is included. The early New Thought movement was driven by the discovery that physical healing was possible through the power of mind and spiritual awareness. As that initial idea unfolded into successful application, practitioners of New Thought began to see that the power of an uplifted consciousness could also bring healing to negative circumstances and conditions in one's personal life. As it evolves today, twenty-first century New Thought is driven by a far broader intention. Planetary healing through self-realization is emerging as the new promise of these teachings.....and so The Association For Global New Thought was born.www.agnt.org
