"Gli UNIVERSAL TOTEM ORCHESTRA si aggiudicano la 13a edizione del PREMIO DARWIN per musiche non convenzionali, relativo alle uscite discografiche del 2008. The Magus, secondo maestoso ed esoterico capitolo discografico dell'ensemble trentino, è il disco premiato dal Laboratorio di Babele di Treviso, un premio allo spessore creativo e stilistico, con forti connotazioni e tensioni Zeuhl (con riferimento imprescindibile ai capostipiti francesi Magma), davvero raro e straordinario nel panorama italiano. Gli UTO saranno premiati sabato 20 Giugno nel contesto della 13a edizione dell'Omaggio a Demetrio Stratos, con relativo concerto presso l'abside della chiesa di Alberone di Cento (FE). Un complimento vivissimo agli UTO e alla BLACK WIDOW, storica etichetta discografica che ha curato, con consueta pregevole passione, la pubblicazione di "The Magus". Il Laboratorio di Babele vuole dedicare questa edizione del Premio Darwin alla memoria di Andrea Zanatta, con cui sono state condivise con entusiasmo le prime storiche organizzazioni."

THE NEW ALBUM IS OUT!!!
"The Magus" is the new Opera of Universal Totem Orchestra. It's a jazz/rock simphonyc composition which concludes a Trilogy (hidden Opera, "Rituale Alieno", "The Magus") dedicated to the Human Alienation; from the most esoteric state to the most psychal complex one, crossing extreme forms of analysis and autoanalysis.

Biography:
UNIVERSAL TOTEM ORCHESTRA (U.T.O.) was formed in 1998 by UTO G.Golin (drummer) and Dauno Giuseppe Buttiglione (bassist), two musicians who were already performing together in other BLACK WIDOW projects.
The U.T.O., which was evolved from the L.M.R (Laboratorio Musicisti Riuniti) after five months, released its first album "Rituale Alieno" (Black Widow Records) in 1999. All tracks of the album were composed by Golin and Buttiglione.
In these album performing:
ANA TORRES FRAILE (vocalist), MARCO ZANFEI (keyboarder), MARCO MAURO and GIUSEPPE SAIANI (guitarists), ANTONIO FEDELI (saxophonist), GIANNI NICOLINI (drummer), FRANCESCO CIECH (cellist) and the chorus of FESTI brothers.
With the same line-up the Orchestra starts performing live acts and taking part in some Black Widow productions, like the compilation NOT OF THIS EARTH (which includes the song "Lacrima di Tempo").
One more song of the Universal Totem Orchestra is released at the compilation DAZE OF THE UNDERGROUND, where the Universal Totem Orchestra arranged and published the Hawkwind's song "Alien (I am)".
The last concert of the Universal Totem Orchestra with the "Rituale Alieno" ensemble took place at the OPEN AIR Festival. In 2004 Dauno G. Buttiglione resigned his post as the bass player of the band and became the artistic director of the band until he left U.T.O. in 2005.
After Buttiglione's retirement UTO G.Golin (with Black Widow's help) started looking for young talents of mainstream jazz-rock, like the bassist LORENZO ANDREATTA, the guitarist DANIELE VALLE, who had already performed live acts and recorded the song "Alien (I am)", the keyboarder FABRIZIO MATTUZZI. The vocalist Ana Torres Fraile and the saxophonist Maestro Antonio Fedeli complete the current line-up of the band...
