With some 30,000 students, we are the largest university in the region. The university is friendly, dynamic and innovative. Our staff pursue excellence in teaching, learning and research, and the range of undergraduate courses, means that we can cater for most academic and career interests – from arts to law to marine science and much more.
We work in partnership with several colleges in the South West, providing a variety of pathways to Higher Education throughout the region. In addition, Plymouth is responsible for all nursing and midwifery training in the region and, with the University of Exeter and the NHS in the South West, provides first-class education for tomorrow’s doctors and dentists at the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry.
Plymouth is the only university in the country to have its own diving and marine centre. Situated in a prime waterfront location, just 15 minutes’ walk from the campus, the centre offers you the opportunity to gain an internationally recognised professional diving qualification (HSE SCUBA) plus a recreational BSAC Open Water Diver qualification.
Anyone who would like the opportunity to go into Higher Education or find out more information about what university life is all about.

The university is situated close to the Devon/Cornwall border in the South West of England . There are regular services running from London, South Wales, Midlands and North England, Ireland and the Channel Islands by coach, rail, air, and Plymouth is easily reached by the A38 Expressway.
If you would like to visit the university, there are two open days each year. If you cannot make an open day, we also run campus tours every Wednesday.
Why choose the University of Plymouth? What is life like in the South West? What's different about studying at University? What information do I need to know? How do I apply to university?
