Uno The Prophet comes from a legacy three generations deep in Boston Mass. Born and raised in an artistic family in the section known as Roxbury, his material often references the deep history that is in our all-too-often overlooked Black communities in Boston (Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan). He was exposed at an early age to all forms of music and live talent, as his grandmother was a renowned tap dancer in the US and Canada, often breaking bread with the likes of Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll, Jimmy Slyde and a young Gregory and Maurice Hines.
Growing up in Roxbury was colorful, and Uno was exposed to much in his formative years, as his family had a rich history in the area and was one of the first of a handful there in the 1950's. As a youngster he attended the esteemed Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts, which, in the 1970's, was the Black Boston version of Fame, learning dance, drama, sewing, cooking, history, singing and music, among other things. It was here that he began to hone his musical sensibilities, and he started rhyming at the early age of ten. A naturally gifted child, Uno excelled until his teen years, where the restraints of inadequate school support and racism began to rear their ugly respective heads.
In his adolescent public school years Uno juggled school and rhyming - but later went on to hustle, drink and fight with increasing frequency - culminating in him being permanently banned from the entire Boston public school system in the tenth grade for punching his principal. He later got his GED and attended some college, all while working on his music and developing into a monster emcee.
Of all of his early experiences, it was the racism that had the most profound impact on him, and his political awareness began to emerge even as he was doing dirt. In the late 80s he was heavily influenced by Public Enemy, Rakim, X-Clan and Poor Righteous Teachers, and later by Bob Marley, Jacob Miller and Peter Tosh, among others. Uno moved to Atlanta in 1992 and continued to do hip-hop shows, effectively finding his voice and direction. He also did poetry, and opened for The Last Poets, Poor Righteous teachers, Public Enemy, dead prez, Sonia Sanchez and Amiri Baraka, with messages of revolution, Black pride, self-sufficiency and self-esteem. He was the winner of one of Yo!MTV Raps' first freestyle contests, played the Transmusicales festival in Rennes, France in 2000 with Les Nubians, Guru, Angie Stone, Bilal and Herbie Hancock, and in 2002, played Summer Jam in Boston for a crowd of 20,000 people.
As his social and political awareness grew, so did his skills and notoriety, as he had began to infuse the teachings of Malcolm, Dr. Khallid, and Garvey into his material. He was soon featured on projects by Prof. Griff, 7L & Esoteric, Les Nubians and on Dr. Mutulu Shakur's Dare To Struggle project...a tribute to his stepson Tupac, and his writings have been featured in both his own works and in national publications.
His ongoing work with, and solidarity to the New Black Panther Party, the Millions More Movement, the Million Youth March, Millions for Reparations, Dr. Mutulu Shakur and the 'Dare To Struggle Project' and Fred Hampton Jr.'s efforts make him a perfect fit for Guerrilla Funk.
Uno The Prophet's debut offering, Split The Prophet, is in production now.

It is easy to tell what people do like to hear but it’s hard to tell the truth!
A man went to the shaver to shave his beard and started a conversation about God with the person who did attend him. The shaver said: “I don’t believe that God does exist, how you say”-“Why do you say that?” asked the client.- “Oh, that’s very simple. Out there in the streets you see that God does not exist. Or tell me, if God would exist, would there be so much sickness?Would there be so much abandoned children? If God would exist, there would be no suffering for the humanation.I can’t believe in the existence of a God permitting all these things. The client remained silent, he didn’t response to avoid a discussion. After having shaved his beard the client left the barbershop and saw a man with beard and long hair walking along the street. He went back into the barbershop and said to the shaver:
-“You know what? The shavers do not exist.”-“Of course, they do! Here I am!-“No” said the client “they don’t, If they would exist there would be noperson with beard and such long hair as that man outside”.-“The shavers do exist. The thing is that the person does not come to me”-“Exactly…!” said the client. “That’s the point! God does exist. The problem is that people does not go to him nor does seek him. That is why there is somuch hurt and misery.” The shaver thought about that. If you believe that God does exist, FIRST SEEK GOD, and then all other things will be given to you!
We need more fraternity. We should promote and encourage one another. We should help each other. Instead of all that we slander our brothers and sisters to keep our position. Especially we need more consideration towards others. How can we allow circumstances like for instance in La Oroya, Peru (just seek some pictures in google) that the heavy metal industry harms the health of all people living around there - 60% of the population in that area suffer cancer! Plus for that the employees are bad paid the industry very gainful. I mean we are living in the 21st Century and because of acquisitive business poor people get exploited! I reveal to you, SUCH A RUTHLESS IGNORANCE IS DEADLY! This was just one of many examples why our Babylon System fails! Those who have the understanding for to stand up for are with me: While the elites and politics are loosing their authenticity there is more room to provoke agitation. So, there will be some change! And we have to be aware of what we have to change. I promise you wihtout changing ourselves we gonna keep remaining in this doom loop and finally nothing will be changed! If you wanna change your fates game you have to change yourself! Respect each other as yourself. Instead of running after money or being proudly provoking conflicts we d' rather get humble and respectful for we can live in peace.

Change is inevitable and constant. Not getting the "CHANGE" you expected? This is my two cents. (NEW SINGLE 4-QUARTER CHANGE COMING SOON!!! -- Check SpiritualHipHop.info for Updates)
I just released my new song "State of Shock" which is a tribute to Michael Jackson. Come listen to it on my myspace page or go to www.youtube.com/darcydonavan to see the tribute video. Call your local radio stations and request it and please tell your friends and family to do the same.
We cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not take from someone else. When half of the people get the idea they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half get the idea it does no good to work because someone else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend is the end of any nation. We can not multiply wealth by dividing it...
This is just an example how easy people can be manipulated by Babylon System to become useful idiots. Music is life and life is music. But how it is with commercial music? Can we still feel the joy of life there or does it only seem „cool“? Is it still art or just for useful idiots? Fashion is by the brands. Imagine how many people agree to pay tooo much for clothes just for wearing brand-name clothes? I mean instead of pay so much for brands-name clothes they should rather get paid by the brands for the (unwanted?) publicity they do in the street;-) and that’s why I call them useful idiots. In Europe many say that the US Americans are superficial while (almost?) everywhere in Europe US lifestyle (fahsion, commercial music etc.) is copied. How else could I define them if not as useful idiots? In fact all those who are not true but trying to be "cool" are useful idiots for Babylon System. Unfortunately most - very most - people living in this world are like that otherwise the system would not work like that...
