For ten years Elvira's Twin has appeared across the nation as well as on television, radio and print media. Officially recognized by Cassandra 'Elvira' Peterson herself Elvira's Twin is one of only three impersonators in the world to receive this honor. Costarring with Elvira herself in 2007 on "The Search for the Next Elvira" Elvira's Twin not only assisted the Real Elvira in weeding out the contestants, he provided his skills as a make-up artist transforming the final three contestants into Elvira for the finale episode.
Elvira's Twin is a personality fondly referred to as 'ET' by it's creator Patterson Lundquist. A veteran of celebrity impersonation Patterson celebrates ten years of Elvira impersonation this September 2008.
What began in 1997 as a gag Halloween costume turned into a career that has
lasted for a decade. From hosting the first Official Elvira's Nightmare Haunted
House as Elvira to promoting the brews of Segrams Beverage Company, Patterson
has done it all. Let's not forget hosting horror films in front of a live
audience, twirling tassles in front of nearly two thousand people! To appearing
as Elvira with Cassandra Peterson at live appearances and on television. All
these and more make Patterson the nations most sought after Elvira impersonator.
He set the standards for Elvira Impersonators by following in the footsteps of
his inspiration (Cassandra Peterson). He was the first Elvira Impersonator used
to host Elvira's official haunted house attraction "Elvira's Nightmare Haunted
House." Given approval from Cassandra 'Elvira' Peterson he appeared for a record
thirteen nights, appearing in front of over twenty thousand people. He was the
first Elvira impersonator to promote an alcoholic beverage (Rick's Spiked
Lemonade & Grolsch Beer).
What once was a 'gig' monopolized by women yearning to recreate the busty horror
hostess, Patterson found himself setting an example. Proving that with a lot of
make up, some attention to detail and a lot of character study, a man can
achieve an illusion solid enough to even fool the actress who originated the
role.
Elvira Herself:
"Ok
I swear, I'm looking at them (Patterson's photos) and I'm thinking to myself, my
God, these have got to be me! In person he's like one of those freaky
fun house mirrors yah know? It's like I'm taller, I'm thinner, I'm
younger, it's fabulous! " - Cassandra Peterson the Real Elvira.
What began one dark and rainy All Hallows Eve of 1997 would prove to take
Patterson on a wild journey across the United States. Doing over four hundred
exclusive Elvira appearances (public and private) Patterson has been seen at
private clubs, public gala's and events, corporate parties, conventions, haunted
houses, movie theaters, museums, art galleries, parades, night clubs, charities
and fundraisers as well as print media (both books and magazines), television
(both network and public access) and radio (both AM & FM)!
While making it look easy is
one thing, becoming Elvira is no small task. Two hours worth of make-up go into
creating the illusion of the Queen of Halloween. How does he do it? "Let's just
say that along with foundation, powder, gallons of eye liner and and eye shadow
comes a big dose of Vodka too-" he laughs.
Patterson also proudly achieves the illusion of Elvira without any cosmetic
surgery or hormone injections. With background as a special effects make-up
artist as well as a costume designer and wig stylist Patterson combines his
talents to replicate the look made famous by Cassandra Peterson. Of course no
true Elvira impersonator is complete without a full set of... talents. Patterson
also replicates Elvira's trademark cleavage with a spectacular custom made
silicone prosthetic chest, that stops people dead in their tracks.
So out of so many
appearances one might wonder which ones were his most memorable.
"Out of all my appearances, my favorites had to have been my most recent work
with Cassandra on her Fox Reality Show 'The Search for the Next Elvira.' Being
asked by her first of all was the highest honor. Beyond that, I have warm
memories of my first gigs standing in as Elvira at her first Nightmare Haunted
House. I guess my favorites have to be the gigs where I sat along side Cassandra
Peterson herself. Those are the kinds of appearances any celebrity impersonator
dreams of. It's an affirmation of your talent. Once you've done that, you can do
anything."- Patterson
