Adventure travel, writing (two books in the works!), reading (everything), watching quality films (as well as the occasional movie I hate to admit liking), cooking ethnic foods, connecting with people of various backgrounds (especially from Italy, where I grew up), experiencing LIFE!

Heroes
My father, not only a Silver Star Veteran, but a hero in many ways. My husband, Greg Reiter, for having the courage to follow his dreams and supporting mine. Paulo Coelho for touching the world with his words. And last but not least, the U.S. Soldier.
When I left my job at a Fortune 500 company to embark upon a year long international travel sabbatical, I thought my dilemma was unique. Why was I not satisfied with a life that, by all standards, was "successful?" True, as a 9-11 survivor, I had more reason than most to reconsider my life and how I wanted to spend the rest of it. As I discovered in my travels, however, I was not alone.
I have a website: www.unplugyourhead.com, and a book: Unplugged: How to Disconnect from the Rat Race, Have an Existential Crisis, and Find Meaning and Fulfillment, which are both dedicated to providing support and advice to those who wish to "disconnect" from the consumer-driven matrix long enough to evaluate what they really want out of life, and to provide them with the inspiration to do it.
This excerpt from Unplugged is from the chapter on how to take advantage of a corporate sabbatical. Do's, and don'ts of applying, how to delegate your work, and the best way to handle your return to work.
Who I'd like to meet: ..
Anyone who:
Favors the natural vs. the artificial,
Doesn't have their tastes dictated by society,
Has goals that are personal and not material
Has inspiring stories to share
Prefers to live their own adventure than watch one on TV
Has interesting books/music/philosophies/travel experiences to share
Is always in the process of expanding their mind (without drugs)
Isn't threatened by new ideas
and...
Is any one of those things without thinking that they are better than everyone else!
Ooh I've only just seen your comment from 11 September - and I was thinking of you that day too! I watched a programme about 911 with my eldest son and told him all about what happened to you that day! Good luck with the Patagonia competition. I voted and tweeted the link...
When we bring Love into all situations in our lives.....we are actually helping the World.....every thought sends
ripples and waves.....when we take the responsibility for our actions and thoughts.....that is when Love can rule
the Earth......I send you love and light.....and big hugs my friend!
Thank you Nancy, the appreciation is mutual. I haven't been on MySpace much lately. Currently, Newsvine has my attention. Regardless, I'm sure to drop by whenever you post to your blog. Take care ~Carl
Nancy, if I lived nearby, I'd be knocking on your door, cupcake in hand today. I've been thinking of you and how grateful I am that today wasn't your day to leave us. You've given us so much since then. Much to think about in an uplugged kind of way. Little did I know that day I clicked on your icon, thinking I'd find accoustic music, what a treasure I'd find instead.
