Interests

  • General

..Storytelling. Via writing, music, film, dance, painting, or what-have-you. I am obsessed with pirates, egg nog, and the potential of people and technology. I write a lot, but most of it never makes it out of my head. Whether that's good or bad, it's not really fair for me to say.

I feel a need for beauty in my life; to give it substance, to give it meaning. Without beauty, all that exists is existence without meaning. Make your life mean something. Make it beautiful. And extra cheesy.
  • Music

..This section is useless. I listen to everything.

    WE are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
    Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
    And sitting by desolate streams;
    World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems.
    - Arthur O'Shaughnessy, from Ode

I listen to late night trance radioplay, classical masters, headbanging metal, country, electronica, and surf guitar. I sing old sea chanties in the shower. Here is a long and pointless list of names of stuff I like, far from complete: Rai. Rammstein. Ani DiFranco. VNV Nation. Gorillaz. Alice in Chains. Sarah McLachlan. Johnny Cash. Audioslave. Cranberries. Sneaker Pimps. Concrete Blonde. Method Man. Type O Negative. Tori Amos. Nine Inch Nails. Orgy. Peter Gabriel. Stone Temple Pilots. Project Pitchfork. Bush. Moby. Alison Krauss. They Might Be Giants. Rob Dougan. White Zombie. Elliot Smith. (old) Pearl Jam. FRANK SINATRA. Prodigy. Hank Williams Sr. & Jr. Linkin Park. Korn. Folk Implosion. UB40. Juno Reactor. Marilyn Manson. A Perfect Circle. Craig Armstrong. Depeche Mode. Bruce Springsteen (he's not just for Tony Danza!). Death Cab for Cutie. Enigma. U2. Johnny Collins. Limp Bizkit. Nickelback. Mindless Self Indulgence. No Doubt. The Crystal Method. Tool. Nirvana. VAST. Dragon Ash. Natalie Imbruglia. Weezer. Filter. Bif Naked. Deftones. The Hard Lessons. Jimmy Buffet. Tenacious D. The Yardbirds. Soundtrack Favs: Queen of the Damned, LOST HIGHWAY, The Crow, The Fifth Element. Whatever Meta is spinnin' down at Mephistos, the girl has taste.
  • Movies

..I like film noir, german industrial stuff, cyberpunk; lost worlds. Stories that exist outside the frame and off the page. Here's a few: The Maltese Falcon, Metropolis, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, The Fifth Element, Leon (The Professional), Sin City, Scarface, Kill Bill, Lost Highway, Momento, The Sixth Sense, Fight Club, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Popeye, Going in Style, Run Lola Run, La Jette, Twelve Monkeys, The Bicycle Thief, Elf, The Golden Child, Coming to America, The Bourne Identity, Rebel Without a Cause, Waterboy, Gattica, Half Baked, The Last Starfighter, Romeo Must Die, The Last Samurai, Queen of the Damned, The Big Lebowski, Heat. I've probably seen the Odessa Steps sequence from The Battleship Potemkin enough to last two lifetimes.
  • Television

Dexter, Journeyman, My So-Called Life, Sifl & Olly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Law & Order, Deadwood, Sopranos, Heroes, Rome, Firefly.
  • Books

..Authors: Edward Arlington Robertson. H.P. Lovecraft, William Gibson, and Stephen King, and Chuck Palahniuk. My very favorite book is The Big Orange Splot. 'My house is me, and I am it. My house is where I like to be, and it looks like all my dreams.'
  • Heroes

Stephen King, Amanda Palmer, As Cities Burn, Brand New, Chuck Palahniuk, James Frey, Darren Aronofsky, Luc Besson. Thank you for saving my life.
I'd also like to thank the one that got away; without her I wouldn't be who I am today. "I tore down my walls; I'm building something new." No one said it would be easy.

About me:

*** Hey, here's a little disclaimer. I know this is the internet and everything, but just because you managed to find this page doesn't mean I desire to be your friend. You might think you are cool or hot or whatever, but if you don't express yourself well, then hell I don't know you and quite frankly do not want to 'be friends' so you can clutter up my page with your shit. Ok? Flashing your boobies isn't going to work.
If you have a legitimate reason, don't be afraid to message me. I'm not a jerk and I really enjoy talking to interesting people. Let's all pretend to be civilized until we're beneath the sheets.

..

I stick to my guns and I wear 'em in the bath. I mind my please & thank-you's when it pleases me, thank you, and I'm not sorry for the life I've lead, the tears I've shed, or the dirt on my shoes. I am what I am and that's fine with me - give thanks for what you've got, broken ribs and all.

I don't know why this is so choppy. It's pretty awesome, but better on youtube. Duh.

They say you have to suffer for your art. What I wonder is, do they mean you have to gain a broad scope of experience in order to find somewhere meaningful to make a stand, or do they mean that once you do you will be hated for it?....

Who I'd like to meet:

Artists, storytellers, filmmakers, dancers, gladiators, madmen and lunatics having the time of their life.

Angels, fallen or otherwise. Anyone with a good story to tell, even if it is only written in the lines on their face.

The Sun.

I am teaching myself how to fly again.

The show was good, but not their best. Well, from what I saw of it, at least. We went on the balcony to get a good view, but that backfired because there were a bunch of deadbeats in my way. I wanted to push them over the ledge, but one was like, 9, so somehow that seemed wrong. Just slightly though.
