Influences
Stephen Bruton recently passed away. "It is what it is cause it ain't what it used to be" is one of his lines. He has created some of the most clever, sincere, beautiful songs I have ever heard. "River Runs Deep" by Stephen Bruton is the song my sister decided on for her father daughter dance at her wedding. Incidentally she was torn between that song & another Stephen Bruton song called "Against my Will" I thought the title was not quite right for a wedding.
Stephen Bruton created hilarious, beautiful stuff. I'm so glad he was on earth at the same time as me he's a trip. Love to him.
Patti Smith, Elvis Costello, Charlie Parr(a incredible slide player and songwriter from Deleuth MI) Dayna Kurtz (One of my favorite songwriter. She is out of Brooklyn NY) , Reverend Horton Heat, New York Dolls, Hamell on Trial, Betty Blowtorch, Frightwig, Sam Cooke, Prince, Bikini Kill, Bonnie Raitt, Concrete Blonde, Aimee Mann, Eminem, Etta James, Warren Zevon, Shemekia Copeland, Malford Milligan, Lucinda Williams, The Pixies, Joe Richardson (from Austin TX originally from LO), Liz Phair, Hole, Buckethead, The Last Poets, Bob Dylan, Crass, Leonard Cohen, GWAR, Shelby Lynne...
Basically music with a growl, groove, or moan is what I like. With guts.
I'm very interested in the local bands around the Boston area and am still finding my way around the music scene out here.
Tarbox Ramblers (the first show I came to out here that had the women dancing, it's swaggery, growly and all sorts of other words that spell check says I can't spell),
Jeremy Lyons {a NOLA transplant with that wonderful LA rhythm and a rich voice beautiful pitch on slide work} and
Frank Morey(a growl and songs that make a xylaphone sound sexy out of Lowell MA)all have been making me feel, eager to keep up with slide and try new things with the guitar, and my songs.
Danielle Miraglia (with her lyrics that leave me sometimes questioning my ways but never hers, her warm smooth voice that's been through just enough that you want to hear the tale she's gonna tell, and the thumb action well I just don't even want to get started on that.)
Melvern Taylor and the Meltones (smart ass lyrics that make you feel like someones been taking notes on cocktail napkins about your past, present and future walks of shame)
This list is eating my small intestine so I will deal with more of it later.
Any other suggestions around Boston or if you are coming through let me know.
Oh and go see Kaitlin Dibble (she's kinda weird and may give you a tiny magnetic naked person, that is Kaitlin for "Hi will you be my friend?" Her lyrics are what(in her sick mind) did actually happen. And if you ask she will tell you more. She is sometimes jumpy sometimes loud and she likes steak.)
Kaitlin Dibble is a Austin to Boston Punk to Metal to Blues to Indie Singer Songwriter girl new in town and eager to begin playing the local clubs, meeting and hearing others in the music community.........But This is her first myspace and I had to bribe my sister to show me how to do it.
So it is under construction but I would be excited to get any visitors comments on my originals.
"Taste of Somerville" being about a night I spent out at the Abbey Lounge, and what happens when you realize your guy gave up on drinking and on women like you.
"Beer's Gone" kinda of a drunk dial I received but a nice one I think...
"Nightrain" A wailing acapella song about cheap wine, and dreaming of getin out of Indiana
"BFlat Poetry" A slightly pissed off song about an the difference between a poem and a song.
Thanks

Just listened to your songs...Love em!! Great voice...excellent writing.....I know Somerville and the Abbey very well.....so the song has reflective meaning for me too.
good good times. we should find a song or two to duet on next time. dressings of grandeur? deluding the debutantes? dressing up delusions for the debutantes? so many combinations, so little time.
Sorry to be missing the show at Plough and Stars on the 22nd. Still in NY state at that point. See ya back in Boston in early Sept - sometime after Labor Day.
