So... you've got this band. And it's great, isn't it? But how are you ever going to make it when you and your mates are the only ones that know that? How will anyone else ever find out about you? Sure, you can put your band on Myspace — along with the other 10 million bands with a Myspace page. And you can play gigs — but outside where you live, who's going to know about that?
What you need is wider exposure. Imagine you could get your music out on a compilation download album supported and distributed by the world's biggest record companies. Or if you could play live, not just at the local pub, but at one of the UK's biggest Summer festivals. THAT would be just the break you need, right?
Well, dream no further. If you enter and win Unsigned Heroes 08, your band could be living that dream! Right now, no-one out there knows your name — but this competition could give you a proper shot at making it big. From Zeroes to Heroes, just like that.
The AKG Microphones Unsigned Heroes 08 competition is a search to find the best unsigned band in United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. If you’re over 18, have a band or act featuring three or more performers (no solo artists, sorry), you are invited to submit an MP3 of your performance of a song for the judges to consider. The song must be an original composition.
In keeping with the competition’s aims of encouraging young musical talent, this year’s competition is presented in association with Strummerville, the music charity founded to develop and promote new music in the memory of Clash co-founder Joe Strummer. Thanks to the charity’s involvement, this year’s AKG Unsigned Heroes winners will play live on the Strummerville stage at one of next year’s major Festival.

Hi there, we were wondering if you could help us... We've been looking for a drummer for about 4 months now and we've still had no luck. If by any chance you know any drummers living around Reading, please let us know, your input would be much appreciated.
Also, we have lots of new stuff on our page - including a new track, as well as a few gigs you might want to come to, so why not visit our page and say hi!

UNSIGNED HEROES @ BIRMINGHAM NEC!! A big shout out to everyone who went to the 'Music Live' conference at Birmingham's 'NEC' over the weekend!
We went up to check it out on Sunday and it turned out to be quite a day. Throughout the day bands were encouraged to take their demos to the Harman Pro UK stand, where they had the chance to be reviewed by a panel of judges including the likes of producer and musician Jez Coad who produced the Simple Minds album Black & White, Producer, DJ, engineer and all round musician Gareth Johnson whose credits include working with Natalie Imbruglia, The Who, Razorlight, Kaiserchiefs and Kasabian and a member of the genre merging band UNKLE.
At 4pm, we all went back to hear the Unsigned Heroes judges pick the track of the day and to our surprised delight, we bloody won it!! The winning track was 'Just A Thought' and we came home with two new mics. An AKG D5 stage microphone and an AKG Perception 100 mic for studio use. Splendid!!
We also got quite a good critique from another panel of Judges which included Loz of Kerrang! radio, who took our CD home with him. He even said he'd play it on his show, so keep your ears peeled and make sure you tune in to his show.
A big thanx to Vince, Gareth, Loz and the rest of the judges for everything you had to say, and thanx to 'Music Live', 'AKG Unsigned Heroes' and 'Harman Pro' for putting on such a great event this year. We'll definitely be coming to the next one!!
