Spawned from the fertile musical soil of Johnson, Vermont, Unstopher Rawls is a three piece improvisational monster that has recently made Philadelphia their home. Comprised of Brett Lanier on guitar and vocals, Adam Witkowski on drums and vocals, Ben Contois on bass guitar, Unstopher Rawls are a diverse gang of omnivorous musicaholics, each with their own unique background. Lanier is a bop-soloing jazz school dropout gone country, and he is not afraid to whip out the Jimi licks. Witkowski is a walking encyclopedia of classic rock, who grew up among some of the finest polka grooves in the United States. Contois has played in hardcore bands, reggae bands, country bands, and ska bands, dropping the rumble like Godzilla dropped helicopters.
Together, with influences ranging from Igor Stravinsky to Buddy Emmons to Frank Zappa to The Band to Miles Davis, these guys rock harder than Gibraltar. But don’t listen to me, listen to them. The music speaks more eloquently than words ever could.

U. Rawls, U. Rock! it was soooooo gooood to see you alllll last weekend, i forgot how much I missed seeing your smiling faces and flopping my feets to your hopping beats! Still waiting for your music to come in a more portable form, however, something wrapped perhaps in plastic, or cardboard; that will tickle my ears, put butterflies in my tummy, and get my center of gravity in the air and moving around...I know, yer working on it, but work harder!!! I miss you! Oh and by the way, there seems to have been a pillow and a T-Shirt left behind.....Luvs ya, TTYL:)
Thank you for taking the long haul of a trip back up to vt. it was great having you, both nights went off without any problems and the crowd was moving, thanks again for being a part of Mudfest'08
ok...soooo. i don't why you guys all decided to congregate in the city of brotherly humps...but you should all get your heads out of your balls and move to brooklyn. i miss you.
Oh Unstopher, i miss you so. No one rocks me quite the way you do. The shaking has stopped, the chills, the insomnia, and yet I find myself still in the throws of rawls-withdrawal. All I have to console myself is but a wee four track demo and a few poorly taken photos (one of which I'm surprised to see, still graces the profile of the shark), and of course, the note you left behind, In G. by the way, I think it might be kitten time. I'm taking orders. Free kittens of what could arguably be the coolest cat in the world. Just thought you should know. Peace to you all and werd to yo momma, hippimom that is:)
Hi there Unstopher Rawls first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are probably going to just close our myspace account.
Many people wanted to use us in the future so if you were one of those people make sure you bookmark the link below so that in the event that we do close our myspace account you won't loose contact with us. I wish you the best of luck in your music career. Thanks again for being our myspace pal.
