Sounds Like
Everything that we've ever listened to & enjoyed thoroughly enough to stay lodged upstairs conciously or subconciously, then manifest itself in our music somehow... Because in music as in all aspects of ourselves we are almost entirely a product of our experiences & environment... So in the end, who do we sound like?? - Us - who else?!!!!!
***************************************************************************************After many years of finding themselves dj'ing at the same parties and clubs UNSUNG HEROES founding members: Bradley (Dastardly) & B (Mr Shiver), have been producing hip hop & soul together since the mid 90's when Brad asked B to join him in re-mixing a track he was releasing with Dan Carey (for those who don't know - an incredible musician/producer with a No 1 under his belt - he's listed in my friends below but still hasn't sorted himself out a group profile!). They released their debut LP "Unleashed" a few years ago featuring artists such as J Live, L Fudge, Godfather Don, Rob O, TY, and The Scratch Perverts but to name a few. They also produced for TY on his debut LP Awkward & produced & arranged the entire critically acclaimed LP Home Cookin for Tony Allen (Of Africa 70 fame) featuring Damon Albarn & TY.
Since then they left their previous label to embark on putting together a group, as opposed to merely working with guest vocalists. They felt strongly about creating a tight little musical family from friends & homegrown talent that they knew; working with people that weren't necessarily highly established artists in their own right. Now to their minds, with the line up & family listed on this site, they do exactly what it says on the tin, they are: Unsung Heroes!
With this new family, UNSUNG's 2nd LP is in the final stages of completion & is therefore now imminent. They have kept their sound firmly based in their Hip Hop roots, whilst also exploring song writing to the extent they always wanted to, without the constraints of a label's agenda. This new unsigned material stretches across a few different genres, encompassing, as well as Hip Hop, elements of Soul/R&B, Dancehall & Grime. As well as delivering straight up club bangers, they often purposefully stray from conventional lyric writing in this album. Instead in true old school hip hop style, it often features story based lyrics, with vocalists playing the part of different characters Unsung Heroes have made up on their cinematic journey; which is both psychedelic & toungue in cheek in equal measures. If that's all a bit of a mouthful though, one thing is for sure: Unsung remain as funky as your grandma's false teeth whatever they do... Watch this space!
