About me:

..

I am Adam Hardin. I am a student at Western Carolina University; I work for the Department of Residential Living as an applications developer. I develop intranet and desktop applications utilizing the ASP.NET framework. Language of choice is C#, though I am also capable in:

-Java
-VB.NET
-C/C++
-Perl
-Bourne shell scripting

I'm currently using Crimson Editor, Visual Studio 2005 Professional, and Pico to do all my editing. I do use a combination of Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows XP Professional, and Ubuntu Linux (on the CS department machine Polaris).

Writing is a big passion as is programming. As I cannot draw worth a hill of beans, I have to rely on other talents in order for my reader to paint the picture themselves as they perceive it. I no longer blog here on MySpace--however, I am working on my own blog software suite. I hope to have this finished this Spring.

My life goal is to get a Ph.D. in Computer Science and teach at the collegiate level. I'm working on a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the time of this writing. Why do I want to teach, you ask? I want to inspire my students to do something great just as my professors have inspired me.

I have faith in God, myself, and those around me. I am a Christian, though currently I do not claim any denomination.

I am a member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. My chapter is the Gamma Zeta chapter, founded in 1996. My current position for this semester is Initiate Advisor and Webmaster.

I have been married since July of 2006 to my wife Ashley.

I am somewhat musically inclined. I play a guitar and own three:

-Washburn D105 dreadnaught -Epiphone Les Paul Special II -Ibanez G10 4-string bass

I also have an Oscar Schmitt (Washburn) Delta Blues King on loan from Daddy. I have a Rogue 150W amp that packs a wallop and a pedal set. Preferred tuning is either drop D two steps (Breaking Benjamin, Cold tuning) or half-step, depending on song-style and pitch. I can sing to some extent.

Congrats on graduating! I graduate in a year, but going straight for my masters since i'm working for a security firm, so I just need to think of what to "focus" on. What are your plans....well congrats on your hard work =] i love graduation.

Man ur lucky....I'm like 2 semesters behind so i won't graduate till may 2010. I think what sux the most is trying to figure out which graduate school I want to go to and then trying to pick a company. I'm thinking more PA or D.C though that's if i go with a government agency. The security firm I work for is based in Tx, and cali.....but requires a lot of traveling, so not much room for graduate school right away with them. I'm siding more with google, microsoft or a government agency myself. You working anywhere in particular? I see you like programming. My specialties are security and programming. anyways. sorry i responded so late, i've been so busy with school and work.

Just try reading this without laughing 'til you cry!!!

Pocket Taser Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife.

    A guy who purchased
his lovely wife a pocket Taser for their anniversary submitted this:

Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol &Pawn Shop that sparked
    my interest.

The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for
a little something extra for my wife Julie.

What I came across was a
    100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized taser.

The effects of the taser were
supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your
assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety....??WAY TOO
    COOL!

Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home.

    I loaded two
AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button.

    Nothing!

    I was disappointed.

I learned, however, that if I pushed the button AND
pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I'd get the blue
arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.

AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn
spot is on the face of her microwave.

Okay, so I was home alone with
this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with
    only two triple-A batteries, right?

There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting
little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I
really needed to try this thing out on a flesh &blood moving target.

I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a
second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat.

    But, if I was
going togive this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger,
I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.

    Am I wrong?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading
glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one
    hand, and taser in another.

The directions said that a one-second
