Was 2003 mit dem Untoten-Album „Grabsteinland“ begann und 2006 mit „Herz der Finsternis“ endete, war – genreübergreifend – für viele Fans der dunkel-romantischen Musik eine Offenbarung. So selbstbewusst, so anders, so zerbrechlich und phantasievoll entwarfen Komponist & Autor David A. Line und Sängerin & Malerin Greta Ida Csatlos in drei Alben ihre phantastische Geschichte um ein geheimnisvolles Land: Grabsteinland. Kein Künstler sprach der aufstrebenden Gothic Szene so aus dem „schwarz-bunten“ Herzen wie David und Greta Ida, die so „eigen-artig“ ihre Welt entwarfen und so zu Opinion Leadern der Schwarzen Szene wurden.In den nächsten Jahren entwickelten die beiden Künstler Konzeptalben über Elisabeth Bathory (CD „Die Blutgräfin“), den „Fall“ Loudun (CD „Die Nonnen von Loudun“) und „die heXe“, ein psychologisches Werk über Kindheits- und „Ur“-Ängste. Zielstrebig entwarfen sie verschiedene Autoren-, Musik- und Kunst-Projekte. So veröffentlichte David A. Line den zweiten Teil seines Buches & Szene-Bestsellers „Schwarze Messe 2“ sowie den schonungslosen Berlin-Roman „Totenkopfmausgedicht“. Er etablierte sein satirisches Elektro-Projekt „Soko Friedhof“ und provozierte „freiwillig-unfreiwillig“ Skandale und „Hits“ (u.a. „Blutrünstiges Mädchen). Greta Ida Csatlos veröffentlichte als „Greta Ida“ 2009 ihr Solo-Album „Lunatic“, beteiligte sich – unter weltweitem Interesse – an der längsten Open Air Gallery, der „Berlin Wall“ und am Dokumentarfilm über das Projekt.
Doch das Grabsteinland ließ die beiden nicht los. Am 27. Oktober erscheint die Fortsetzung der Geschichte, welche mit autobiografischen Zügen einst auf dem Berliner Georgen Friedhof begann und -blutrot- in Kämpfen und Schlachten um Gut und Böse endete. UNTOTEN „Herz der Finsternis“
Zum dritten und leider zum letzten Mal nehmen uns die Berliner mit auf eine phantastische Reise ins Grabsteinland. Das dunkle Märchen, welches durch dezente Realitätsbezüge an eine Fabel erinnert, geht zu Ende und die Untoten lassen noch einmal fast jegliche Protagonisten die Szenerie betreten. Musikalisch vermengt man die beiden Vorgänger zu einer graziösen Einheit. Greta gleitet mit ihrer verruchten Stimme über elegische Soundstrukturen, welche in perfekter Balance Dunkelheit und Pathos verbinden, dabei lieblich in die Gehörgänge dringen. Die Fantasy-Atmosphäre, welche dieses Werk beherrscht, wird durch Donnergrollen, Rabengeschrei, Windböen und anderen verspielten Schmankerl zu einem Hörspiel-Erlebnis per excellence. Der Hauch der 20er Jahre umweht erneut die Szenerie. Greta windet sich katzengleich durch Soundkreationen. Die Melodien sind von bedrückender Natur, beherbergen aber im Mark eine unglaublich gefühlvolle Energie. ...... Mit dem letzten Ton klappen wir das "Buch" zu und werden uns in hundert Jahren noch dazu beglückwünschen, das Grabsteinland kennengelernt zu haben. Die Träne, welche auf die letzte Seite tropfte wird zum Mahnmal einer zum Meilenstein werden könnenden Trilogie.

hypnotisierende Melodien!
Seit dem 08.11.04 ist das aktuelle Album der Untoten auf dem Markt. „Herrschaft der Vampire“ heißt das gute Stück und bildet den zweiten Teil innerhalb der „Grabsteinland“-Trilogie. Lediglich ein Jahr hat man sich Zeit gelassen, um den gebührenden Nachfolger von „Grabsteinland I“ zu produzieren, der den Arbeitstitel „Die letzte Schlacht“ trägt. Und tatsächlich erzählt die Gothrock-Band um Greta Csatlos die Geschichte eines Kampfes zweier Wolfsarmeen, die die Grabsteinland-Mythologie fort spinnt. So geht es um Wölfe und Raben, Dunkelheit und Todessehnsucht. Mit viel Pathos im Gesang und schier hypnotisierenden Melodien tritt der Hörer eine Reise in die Abgründe der Schwarzromantik an. Dabei bedient man sich unterschiedlichster Mittel: pompös mit Keyboard und harten Gitarren bis hin zum ruhigen instrumentalen Stück lässt man nichts unversucht um in düstere Klangwelten zu entführen!

UNTOTEN Herrschaft der Vampire
eingängige Melodien und starker Ohrwurm Charakter!
Schon eingangs bei „Unvergessen“ wird, untermalt von Wolfsgeheul, dem Stöhnen einer Frau und den Klängen einer Violine, eine unheimliche Atmosphäre gezaubert. Es liegt bei jedem einzelnen Lied Spannung in der Luft; die Schwere und Düsternis sind förmlich zum Greifen! Hinzu kommt noch eine gehörige Portion Tragik und Dramatik, die zum einen teilweise von der Geige, zum anderen teilweise von Klavierklängen wie bei „Die Rückkehr der Wölfe“ zusätzlich dramatisch untermalt wird. Sehr ruhige Songs wie „Sturmvolk“, „Die Rückkehr der Wölfe“ oder das instrumentale „Dein Platz“ gliedern sich hierbei besonders schön ins Gesamtkonzept und sorgen für ein gutes Stück Theatralik. Eingeschobene Interludien wie „Düstergruften“ oder „Ach du kalter Stern“ spannen die erzählte Geschichte fort. Gerade aber die geflüsterten Sequenzen in „Ach du kalter Stern“ verfehlen ihre Wirkung nicht und bauen einen unheimlichen, gefühl- und doch unheilvollen Grundtenor auf, und erzielen gerade deshalb großen Gänsehauteffekt! Die ständige Wiederholung dieser Sequenzen wirkt ebenso hypnotisch wie zum Beispiel auch die Texte von „Lichtbringer“, die sehr dominant und einprägsam sind! Auf alle Fälle sind auf „Herrschaft der Vampire“ die Songs „Unvergessen“, „Raben“, „Dein Platz“ und „Die Rückkehr der Wölfe“ sehr zu empfehlen, da sie sehr eingängige Melodien aufweisen und starken Ohrwurmcharakter besitzen! Maybe it’s not fair for me to give a grade to this album: it is an Untoten album! Yet, I will do it. And not only because they are the most unique band I ever heard: no, I think that they grow with every release, and delivered their masterpiece so far with ‘Herrschaft der Vampire’. ..ich laufe Gefahr mich in Schwärmereien zu verlieren..
Die vorliegende Platte ist ein herausragender Beweis gut umgesetzter Inspiration, angereichert mit dem nötigen Talent und dem richtigen Maß an Dramaturgie. Denn Dramatik ist das Stichwort der ganzen Scheibe, wie ein spannungsvoller Film braucht es hier keinen Funken Realität, um zu zünden. Man kann sich vielmehr fallen lassen, sich hineinversetzen lassen ins Märchenbuch von Greta und David, die von der Einsamkeit der Vampire erzählen, von Sehnsucht, Trauer und Wut. Transportmittel dabei sind oft Texte in Gedichtform, von Greta Csatlos vorgetragen in einer manchmal fast unerträglich emotionalen und gefangen nehmenden Inszenierung. Ihre Stimme erinnert im Ausdruck stark an die Diven der Zwanziger und Dreißiger Jahre, besonders der Name Marlene Dietrich drängt sich auf, wenn sie Dramatik versprühend anfängt, zu erzählen und zu klagen. Mit hart gesungenem, akzentuiertem Deutsch entführt sie in gnadenlos romantischer Manier in die dunkle Welt der Phantasie des Komponisten und Texter David A. Line. An diesem Gesamtkunstwerk gibt es rein gar nichts zu kritisieren, eher laufe ich Gefahr, mich in Schwärmereien zu verlieren. Mit Spannung erwarte ich des Konzeptalbums dritten Teil. www.vampster.vom

CD besorgen!
Alles in allem kann mein Fazit zu dieser Scheibe also nur positiv sein - ist es auch! Auch wenn Gothic im Normalfall nicht meine Baustelle ist, so begeistert mich die Musik auf "Herrschaft der Vampire" von Anfang bis Ende und macht Lust auf mehr. Grund genug also, sich auch noch die erste Folge und demnächst den letzten Teil von "Grabsteinland" zuzulegen. Freunde düsterer Klänge sollten dies übrigens auch tun und sich gleichermaßen diese CD besorgen. Anspieltipps: Raben, Die Rückkehr der Wölfe, Sturmvolk ./ Powermetal.de

„Die Untoten“ write with the “black feather”!
The new album GRABSTEINLAND IV “die schwarze Feder” (“the black feather”) will be released in October 2009 .What started with the Untoten-album “Grabsteinland” in 2003 and ended with “Herz der Finsternis” in 2006, was a revelation for many fans of dark-romantic music and even beyond that genre. Self-confident, different, fragile and imaginative, David A. Line (composer & author) and Greta Ida Csatlos (singer & paintress) created their own tale of a mysterious country: “Grabsteinland” which spans three albums. No other artist echoed the “black-coloured” gothic scene’s sentiments as much as David and Greta. Precisely because they created their world so weirdly, they became an opinion leader of the gothic scene.In the next few years, the two artists developed concept albums about Elizabeth Bathory (CD „ Die Blutgräfin“), the „Case“ Loudun (CD „Die Nonnen von Loudun“) and „die heXe“, a psychological opus about childhood and primal fears. They designed various authors, music and art projects with remarkable determination. David A. Line published the part two of his book and scene – bestseller “Schwarze Messe 2” plus the relentless Berlin-Novel “Totenkopfmausgedicht”. He established his satiric electronic-project “Soko Friedhof” and provoked scandals and “hits”, intended- unintended.
Greta Ida Csatlos recently published her solo album “Lunatic” under the name of “Greta Ida”. She also took part in the longest open–air gallery, the “Berlin Wall”, which attracts attention all over the world and participated in a documentary film about that project. She plays a decisive role in the lifestyle-print-project “German Horror” as well. But the “Grabsteinland” still preyed upon their minds. The continuation of the story will be released on the 27th October. It holds autobiographical features. The story once started at the “Georgen” cemetery in Berlin and ended in crimson struggles and fights for good and evil.

UNTOTEN „Herz der Finsternis“
For the third and unfortunately final time they take us on a fantastic journey into the “Gravestone Country”. The dark fairy tale, which reminds you of a fable, because of its subtly used correspondence to reality, comes to an end and “Die Untoten” let nearly all protagonists enter the setting once again. Musically they combine the two predecessors to a graceful unity. Greta, with her wicked voice, is floating over elegiac sound structures, which are in a perfect balance of darkness and pathos, and are getting through the listeners ears very mellow at the same time. The fantasy-atmosphere, which dominates the whole album, is turning to a radio drama per excellence because of its rolling thunders, cries of ravens, gusts of wind and other fanciful treats. The whiff of the twenties is blowing over the scenery again, Greta is winding catlike through the sound creations. The melodies are burdensome, but hold an incredible sentimental energy at the same time.

With the last sound we shut the “book” and even in a hundred years later we will be still very pleased that we got known to the “Grabsteinland”. The tear which seeped on the last page will be a memorial of a trilogy that might become a milestone. The “Untoten” and their “von Grafenwald” are the Homeland of the gothic culture.

hypnotic melodies!
The latest album of the “Untoten” has been on the market since the 8th November 2004. This good piece is called “Herrschaft der Vampire” and forms the second part within the “Gravestone Country” trilogy. Merely one year has left to produce the worthwhile follower with the working title “The final battle”. And actually the goth-rock band around Greta Csatlos is telling a story about two armies of wolves, which continues the mythology of the “Gravestone Country”. It’s about wolves and ravens, darkness and the longing to die. Surrounded by sheer hypnotic melodies and a lot of pathos in the vocals, the listener goes on a trip into the abysses of the “black-romance”. One uses different kinds of appliances: from being pretentious with keyboards and hard guitars to the point of quiet instrumental songs – nothing has left undone to carry you away into gloomy soundscapes.

Initially at “Unvergessen” (“Unforgettable”) one creates a sinister atmosphere by using the howling of a wolf, the groaning of a woman and the sound of a violin. At every single song, there is something in the air, lets call it tension. The heaviness and the gloom seem to be within your grasp. Additionally there is a big load of tragedy and drama, which is accompanied dramatically on the one part with the help of a violin, on the other part, like at “Die Rückkehr der Wölfe” (“The return of the wolves”), with the help of a piano. Very quiet songs like “Sturmvolk” (“Peoples Storm”), “Die Rückkehr der Wölfe” (“The return of the wolves”) or the instrumental “Dein Platz” (“Your Place”) incorporate themselves into the overall concept very well and provide a special kind of theatrics. Inserted interludes, such as “Düstergruften” („Gloomy Crypts“) or “Ach du kalter Stern” („Oh you cold star“) continue the story. However, the whispered sequences at “Ach du kalter Stern” do not miss their effect and create a sinister, soulful and yet fatal tone and therefore achieve a very large effect of goosebumps! The constant repetition of these sequences is as hypnotic as, for example, the lyrics of “Lichtbringer” (“Light Bringer”), which are very dominant and easy to remember! Without fail, the songs “Herrschaft der Vampire” ("Command of Vampires"), “Unvergessen” ("Unforgettable),”Raben" ( "Ravens"), “Dein Platz” ("Your Place") and “Die Rückkehr der Wölfe” ("The Return of the wolves”) are highly recommended, as they have very plausible melodies and are strong with a catchy tune - character! I run the risk of losing myself into enthusiasm … The present record is an outstanding proof of well implemented inspiration, fortified with the necessary talent and the right measure in dramaturgy. Since drama is the headword of the whole disc like a film full of tension there is no need of a spark of reality to catch fire. One can rather drop himself, can be imagined themselves in the fairy tale book of Greta and David who are telling about the loneliness of the vampires, about longing, grief and fury. Besides, means of transportation is often texts in poem form, reported by Greta Csatlos in a sometimes almost unbearably emotional and arresting staging. Her voice is reminiscent of expressions very similar to the divas of the twenties and thirties, particularly the name of Marlene Dietrich is worth mentioning, when she starts spraying drama by telling and moaning. With hard-sung, accented German she abducts you with a mercilessly romantic style into the dark world of the imagination of the composer and lyricist David A. Line. On this total work of art, there is nothing to carp at, I rather run the risk of losing myself into enthusiasm. I am waiting anxiously for the third part of the concept album. www.vampster.vom

You should obtain this album! All things considered, my conclusion to this album can only be positive – and it is like that! Although Gothic in normal circumstances is not my cup of tea, the music on “Herrschaft der Vampire” ("Command of Vampires") inspires me from the beginning to end and makes me go for more. Therefore, that’s a reason enough, to obtain the first episode, as well as the last part of “Grabsteinland” ("Gravestone Country). Fans of gloomy sounds should also do so and equally obtain this CD. Songs that are highly recommended: “Raben”, “Die Rückkehr der Wölfe” and “Sturmvolk”
