When people listen to Up From Under, the first aspect they comment upon is the attention to songwriting. Up From Under's sound and appeal begins with the songs, which stems from the lifelong friendship of co-founders Will Stucky and Luke Rountree, who began writing songs together at the age of 16. The sound is alternative with melodically arranged guitars, wild pianos and organs, and inspired melodies, while displaying a maturity to songwriting. With their first album (critically acclaimed "Love and Do") under their belt, the band has remained focused and determined to continue their march on the music scene. In 2007 Up From Under welcomed the addition of drummer Ryan McGuire, guitarist Jeremy Davidson, and bassist John Freise and entered the studio to record their second album, the EP "Some Miracle." The album has been released online already! The songs are fresh and original, but still accessible to the radio listener.
When the guys aren't in the studio, they are performing in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas. The band continues to hit many hotspots in their local area, Oklahoma City (The Conservatory, Convergence, Bricktown Ballroom, and UCO Jazz Lab). They have played for 200+ crowds as well as opening and playing with popular artists such as Sherree Chamberlain, Ali Harter, Matt Stansberry, and Jackson Waters. These latest shows are displaying the band's ability to re-create older songs from "Love and Do," while the new material continues to draw new fans.
Are you guys still in A Fight for Fame? We played with you guys in round 2 I think. You are fantastic. Your harmonies and strong instrumentals really set you apart from all of the other bands in the competition. We'd love to come to some more of your shows, so maybe we'll see you around.
It was so much fun playin with you guys tonight! You guys sounded great! Or at least 2/5 of you. We should definitely play another show together sometime...when there's electricity...and I can meet all of you!
oh....haha....well pictures, yes. I thought you meant our music was funny and I wasn't sure if you were listening to the same band. My brother is pretty ridiculous so he brings out the funny in me. You should see the pictures we didn't put up...mostly because they were too stupid. haha
