Upgrade was founded in 1997 by brothers Fernando and Marcos Lara. Coming from an extensive musical background, they began to seek other musicians to assemble an original band that could play the wide range of music that had influenced them their whole lives. These influences ranged from Thrash Metal to Jazz to Psychedelic Rock.
After developing their sound over the next few years they went through numerous Bass players seeking the chemistry that was there naturally with the founding members. In their search for this chemistry they found several members who are unfortunately no longer with the band. Jaime Rodriguez former bassist, re-joined the band as a Guitarist. The new line-up has already been said by many to be the best one yet. With new creative input from 2 artists as well as musicians there is a new feeling of ambition and drive to bring this new force to the masses. Upgrade has been creating new material while fine-tuning their sound and building their fan base in clubs such as The Key Club, The Viper Room, The Roxy, The Whisky A-Go-Go, The Knitting Factory, The Martini Lounge and The Coconut Teaszer in Hollywood; Blue Café and DiPiazza in Long Beach; The Boogie, The Shack and Club Static in Anaheim and various backyard and warehouse gigs in between. They've played with bands like My Ruin, Guilt by Association, In This Moment, Blacklist Union, Program the Dead, My Demyze and many more bands of diverse styles from Death Metal to Punk to Hip Hop and always please the crowd. They are ready to introduce their unique and kinetic music to the rest of the world.
With impressive guitar work on both sides at once technical, visceral, funky and hard driven; Drum work that is equally as technical, rich, intricate and heavy; A bass player that is able to provide a driving and original backdrop to the changing flow of the music and a singer with introspective, dark and often poetic lyrics and a voice the ranges from soft and soothing to intense and guttural; Upgrade is sure to bring a new spark to Rock Music with their original, powerful, eclectic and emotional Metal influenced Hard Rock.
