About me:
UP 'TIL DAWN @ Chico State is an event that raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis Tennessee. St. Jude is the largest childhood cancer research center in the world, and ground-breaking research findings at St. Jude are shared with doctors and scientists all over the world. The hospital's daily operating costs are approximately $1,027,832, which are primarily covered by public contributions (from programs such as Up 'til Dawn). St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.
2006 was a record-breaking year for Chico State, more than 1,500 students raised over $189,000 for the hospital, placing Chico State as the #1 fundraising school for Up 'Til Dawn in the nation!
Funds are raised by way of a letter-writing party, which took place on November 13th, 2006 in the BMU Auditorium. Participants PACKED the auditorium from 5:00pm to 11:00pm and addressed pre-written donation letters that were then sent out to family and friends with the hope of receiving financial help for the children of St. Jude Hospital. The letter-writing party included TONS of free food, good music, TONS of raffle prizes, and a whole lot of FUN! Those who attended surely had a wonderful time.
MORE THAN 2,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED THIS YEAR'S EVENT AND AROUND 37,000 DONATION LETTERS WERE WRITTEN, THAT'S 7,000 MORE THAN LAST YEAR! YAH CHICO STATE!
