Uptown Bill's Small Mall is an eclectic collection of small businesses that deserves a whole lot of attention. Uptown Bill's is a non-profit organization benefitting the Extend the Dream Foundation which came to be in 1999. The foundation works with people living with disabilities. The mission of EDF is to assist these persons in establishing their own small businesses and expand their opportunities. The EDF also works to educate the public about "disabilities" and the amazing people who conquer them and turn it into an asset.
Uptown Bill's is located in the heart of Iowa city (401 South Gilbert Street) and offers acoffee shop with ice cream, soda, coffee, juice, and home-made baked goods.
It includes a bookstore with the cheapest prices you could ever hope to find featuring fiction, nonfiction, self-help books, and cheap VHS tapes, DVD'S, and CD's. It offers cozy couches and a nice quiet study area, along with desktop computers with free internet access and wireless internet.
The Small Mall also offers Open Mic Night on Friday nights (starting at 8PM every Friday) and live music on Saturday nights featuring local Iowa City area bands.
All profits made at the small mall benefit the extend the dream foundation and the mall is always looking for volunteers.
