Uptown Bluegrass has become “the place” to visit on the web when you are searching for a variety of different services pertaining to bluegrass music and events.
In demand festival emcee, seasoned broadcaster, promoter, freelance writer and emissary of all good things Canadian, George McKnight has made it his life’s work to make bluegrass music an enjoyable experience for audience and entertainers alike. He is the “front man” of Uptown Bluegrass and the face you are most likely to see at a growing number of festivals throughout the United States and Canada. George is also the host of the Uptown Bluegrass radio show and in charge of advertising sales for the company.
Making this an international venture simply by residing in the United States, Kathy Boyd represents the technical side of the business, taking care of web design and customer service. Her history includes a long time relationship with the Northwest bluegrass community including serving on bluegrass association boards, writing for publications, emcee work, and performing in the NW regional bluegrass band, Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising. She co-hosts the Uptown Bluegrass radio show with George, adding her sultry voice to announcements and commercial advertisements.
On the air since 1982, you can catch the Uptown Bluegrass radio show on a growing number of stations throughout Canada. Negotiations are currently underway to expand Uptown Bluegrass onto airwaves in the United States, and you can now listen to the show worldwide at www.uptownbluegrass.com!
Always eager to meet new people and learn something new about their chosen music, the folks of Uptown Bluegrass invite you to peruse this website and contact them with any questions, suggestions and/or requests for services.
Johnny Cash and John Hartford
I looked for y'all at the festival, but didn't find ya. We were only able to go on Friday, but we had a blast! You've got Bradley Walker on your page! He's from around where I'm from in Alabama! I do a lot of volunteer work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, that's how I found out about him...he's sort of our local hero. He's an amazing musician that has overcome a lot of diversity in his life.
Hi George and Kathy! Nice to see you on MySpace. Thanks for spinning my songs on your show and I hope you can do a review of the CD someday when you aren't too busy!!
