About me:
Two kickabout hearts, one lonely, the other lost, come together in 'Uptown.'
"Ackley has done a wonderful job at capturing the emotional journey in his story, and Hampton and Riquinha are wonderful in conveying their character’s respective dilemmas. Such is the strength and intelligence of this film that nothing feels forced, and more importantly, everything feels real."
- Sonic-Cinema.com
“A titillating film, with a great cast, an outstanding score, and gorgeous cinematography that makes you feel like you’re right there.”
- TCWReviews.com
"A simple yet intelligent storyline, rich and authentic dialogue, solid character development and strong performances across the board. Rather than explode with emotions and manufactured drama, 'Uptown' exists squarely in the awkward state of unknowing. "
- Richard Propes - TheIndependentCritic.com
"I won't give away the end, but it'll make you rethink your relationships and give you a renewed hope in humanity."
- RogueCinema.com
"The characters are real and raw. Uptown is a great example of solid indie film making."
- MovieRoomReviews.com
"Easily relatable and filmed with a reverence for naturalism, Uptown is heightened by the fact that it comes from a true story. A gorgeous work that seems like it relishes in shooting during magic hour for the most exquisite effect."
- Jen Johans - FilmIntuition.com
"A romantic gem...it is little wonder that the scenes work so well: every line—scripted or improvised—comes from the same artistic trust so buy-in from the actors is virtually guaranteed."
- S. James Wegg - jamesweggreview.org
"I was impressed by the actors...a well performed drama."

Video documentation of a performance piece by my friend Nate Kassel who rode around on his bike slapping high-fives to people who were trying to hail taxi cabs in NYC. Enjoy!
