Kilroy	Oct 1 2008 8:38 PM September 19 was the date of the first show that I reviewed for Banzai. And that is the day that I look at as the beginning of Banzai. But October 1 is the day the first issue was released. I've posted below the "prototype" issue that I used to start getting people acquainted with Banzai in September of 1986. For the first few issues of the publication I put the date that I was releasing the next edition. Or in this case the date I was releasing the first edition. Kilroy	Sep 18 2008 10:43 PM September 19 marks the date of the first show that I reviewed and wrote about for Banzai Magazine. It was on this date, also a Friday, in 1986 that Banshee, Mortal Reign and a band called Forced Entry played at the Uptown Theatre in Kansas City, MO. Though I had been planning and talking about Banzai in the weeks before this show. And even though I didn't release the first edition of Banzai until October 1, 1986. I consider September 19, 1986 to be the day that Banzai was birthed onto the scene. I will observe and celebrate this occasion in a number of ways: First of all, I have already began adding more pictures and flyers from the printed age of Banzai to the Kilroy Photo Gallery. Those images can be found at this link: http://www. jimkilroy. com/pixelpost/index. php?x=browse. Then tomorrow, as dawn breaks across my front yard. I will spread out several copies of Banzai Magazine on the ground. Upon them I will kneel and face in the direction of the Uptown Theatre. I will then pray to the Holy Trinity from that long ago evenings show. In the name of the Flood (Tommy Lee Flood of Banshee), and of the Dunn (Terry Dunn of Banshe), and of the Harley Riding Spirit (Kurt Halupnick of Mortal Reign). Then tomorrow night, at the Beaumont Club in the heart of Westport, will be the Kurt Halupnick Memorial Show. Friends, former band mates and longtime players on the local music scene will come together for this show. Proceeds will be donated to the "Cole Memorial Fund" established through the Community America Credit Union. In the coming days, I will announce more that will take place over the next month that will celebrate Banzai. It's going to be like a rock-n-roll Ramadan. ..
