GHOSTBUSTERS!! feat. Tom Linacre
Young Chippenham Rock band, URANIUM, are based in Wiltshire. They play their own brand of old school metal, which they refer to as munkyfetal (due to one of the members obsession with spoonerisms). They have played a number of local gigs in and around Chippenham, Wiltshire and Bath.
They played their debut festival performance in the Rock Cave at Guilfest in 2005. They also played at the North Wiltshire Festival in Chippenham in July 2006.
Uranium have recorded and produced on 3 different occasions, having written around 12 tracks of material (so far), of which they are hoping record all tracks with Schmoo (Martin the Mackam) and release some kind of album thing in 2007.
''The second band of the night was called Uranium. Images of nuclear explosions rushing to ones head I deduced that they must either be a hardcore band, an industrial band or a metal band. It was all about the metal naturally and was done extremely well. These guys can seriously play and the guitar widdling was very impressive. The best bit was when the frontman and lead guitarist leaned over each other’s shoulder and played the others instrument before switching around again. All in synch with the music. The dynamics in the songs were very interesting, tempo changes, catchy and heavy riffs and generally a very tight and accomplished sound. I really liked the frontman as well. He had presence and good interaction with his band members as well as with the audience. He had a cool, slightly grungy look about him. Basically he looked like a frontman, which always helps. Bands such as Kyuss and Iron Maiden sprang to mind. It could have been cheesy but wasn’t at all. The uranium was reacting (sorry it had to be done!). Impressive.''
