About me: We live in chasmic division, and yet we wonder why the present generation requires a prescribed chemical compensation. On Paxil, Prozak and Xanax, we may live the lives we were never allowed or taught how to lead. We covet our greatest ideas; that is, if we find ourselves capable of free and viable thought after high school/college. We’ll dress them in plastic, place them in a cardboard package and sell them to the layman. After all, the selfish priority would rather profit from man’s ignorance than cure it.
We must forget our precious practicality when our lives descend to habit, or we will forget who we are, what we stand for, and everything we believe in. Where is that boundary between necessity and burden? They tell us there is none, but then we find it has crawled into our homes and broken some part of it. When we fail to make our own distinction, and allow the world to define for us our ethical and moral responsibility, we may find ourselves either exempt or struggling with the weight of the world on our shoulders. Either way, we sacrifice our liberty and break our own hearts. Our shoulders were never meant to bear the weight of the world. Our minds need autonomy and starve on monotony. It is vital to engage in the act of spontaneous creation. We need adventure lest our souls starve in their designated prison cubicles.
I ask you now, what inspires you? Maybe you forgot your inspiration in childhood and it has been reduced to your bank account or perhaps a poster on an office or classroom wall. Maybe you have no specific object of inspiration and live on the edge of life, riding moment to moment over chemical highs and emotional lows. You might have an answer for me, and your inspiration is some outstanding goal charged with honest nobility. You packed it away, or set in on your shelf for decoration until your societal duty has been fully served, however, you should know that when you stop entertaining and pursuing your passion, it dies, and upon retirement, you may lay your dreams to their final rest.
We’re losing our minds and our hearts in this present rat maze, and to add to our distress, they keep moving our damn cheese.
Where do we go from here? We try to move forward, yea, we race ahead and end up spinning in hopeless circles, dizzy, nauseated, and thoroughly distressed. We can’t move forward, unless we find the courage to forge our way into the uncharted territory of our hearts, and navigate our own way home.
Are you capable of one thought for humanity? Can you dream through your cynicism and imagine a brighter day? Have you ever conceived of a solution to humanity’s ever progressing plight, or considered your own possible role in initiating or facilitating an expanse of global consciousness?
Societal conditions are prime for a renaissance, and many souls are ripe with the expectation of a brighter dawn on a broadened horizon. We’re waiting to witness spectacular change, and deep down, our souls experience omnipotent wit in everything inexplicable. Someday it’s laughter will ring through our minds and rise to the surface.
For now, we’re living our lives behind blinders of cell phones, ipods, and text messages. Our automated world requires no navigational skills, and we glide through life only half conscious; following labels and signs and trends and social expectations like sheep. Comments on myspace have replaced our conversations and our friends’ faces are unrecognizable. We only know them as impersonal ostentatious thumbnail images. Infiltrate the internet with conceptual art, infiltrate music with context, infiltrate society with love, and speak to humanity from the depths of your soul.
