Has anyone heard James try to sing? It's really funny. When you see him around Verge or whatever, ask him to sing you something. Tell him Nick sent you.
If you would like to purchase our album, please find someone who already has it, burn it, and photocopy the art. Should cost a few dollars for all the material.
This MySpace is now a tribute page for one of the Bay Area's most interesting bands. Emerging from UC Berkeley's atmosphere of free..what did this even mean?), the Urban Achievers rocked the Bay Area music scene with powerful guitars, driving bass, solid drums, and original vocals (not really) that came together during a high energy performance. The Urban Achievers were a blend of rock, blues, and pop, (but mostly pop) influenced by Bad Religion, Green Day, Led Zeppelin, The Matches, and Offspring (Nick thinks that's lame).
Formed in February of 2004 when vocalist/guitarist Adam Cohen and bassist Jon Wattson partnered with drummer James Losey to begin writing their original repertoire (that was not a sentence). They later added LA actor/guitarist Nick Roth who has jammed with the likes of Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave) and Bruce Springsteen, to complete their rock quartet. Following Jon's decision to study abroad in Rome, long-time friend (wait, like half the band had just met him?) Seth Millstein was recruited to keep the music alive.
Urban Achievers (it really sounds better with the "the" at the front, doesn't it?) performed with such big-name acts as Jefferson Starship and Journey, such contemporary local favorites as Facing New York and Suburban Legends, and such old-school classics as Solemite, KGB, and The Locals.
If you see a large white square below, I don't know what to tell you. It's not supposed to be there. It has infiltrated our space. If it's gone, that means it went away of its own accord. It is a mystery.
The Space where Verge Conducts its shows (the MYC in San Rafael) is no longer allowing Verge to put on concerts, effective July 1st. This is Terrible, because not only is Verge the Best Venue in The North Bay area to Play at, but it is the only venue in Marin County. Loosing this venue would spread discord throughout the Marin music scene, and make it harder for the musicians and kids of Marin to have their voices heard.
Don't let someone else make the call. Come out to Verge this June and show your devotion to local music.
SPREAD THE WORD. REPOST THIS EVERYWHERE. Love,

If thou diggest poetry readings, come check out the hottest new avant guard poetry group in the Bay, The Trainwreck Union, of which yours truly is a member.
At the next reading, 4/27 @ Mama Buzz in Oaktown, I'll be playing a set during the intermission and nobody is going to pay any attention to me unless some of YOU come because they'll be busy drinking the FREE WINE and smoking outside. Pompous assholes. IT WILL KICK ASS OR YOU CAN KICK MINE.
