Urban Assault

Bio:

Urban Assault was formed in Johannesburg, September 1989 by Michael Gill, Steve Ireland, Simon White, Darren Nelson and Martin Coetzee. The band's content predominantly centered around enviro-political and animal rights issues.

During their 8.5 years in existence, the group not only fulfilled the need for more energetic and authentic music, but also managed venues, promoted events to grow audiences, eagerly at their own initiative showcased new talent, and shared the stage with almost all bands of similar genre(s) in Gauteng. Urban Assault positioned themselves between traditional metal and punk (on one hand) and death, black, grind and speed on the other. The band's overall thrust was to grow and consolidate an audience for metal bands in general, while promoting their own style of hardcore thrash.
