The URBANITES are here to rock it steady and keep the fire blazing.
Their music includes a wide variety of original songs,
as well as the reggae standards that keeps any event bubbling. Members of the band are well experienced in production and performances with the likes
of Amlak Tafari, Tippa Irie, Lee Perry, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse, Mikey Dread just to name of few.
Their musical influences encompass the following genres: Ska, Roots and Culture, Neo-Soul, Dub, Hip-Hop and Indie.
Lead Vocalist, Urban Empress has a voice of an angel, her lyrics are motivational and touches on real life experiences as a rasta woman, mother and community leader. Urban Empress has been singing professionally since the mid 90's. She sang with the Livity Nyahbingi Choir in Chicago for many years, spreading the words of His Majesty. Then in 1998 helped form the all female group called WADADA where she performed throughout the Chicago arena and released "Voices of Omega" with Teresa Vasquez and Sister Sara. Urban Empress is now settled in Milwaukee to continue her musical journey and she has found the most talented musicians in the area to join her in forming the Urbanites.
