The Urban Jazz Groove was founded in 1993 by Michael Hartung, who was inspired by the upcoming Jazz and Funk-Clubscene in London, where he found a combination of deep grooves and visuals that created an atmosphere before unseen in Bremen's nightlife. He put all his heart and money into making such event happen in Bremen. The first Resident-DJ was Sebastian Kobs, whose enthusiasm and knowledge of 60s and 70s Jazz and Funk helped build the foundation the Urban jazz Groove is existing on today. In the last 13 years the Urban Jazz Groove saw a couple of changes in it's location and it's DJ-team. Sebastian Heemsath, Ubeyde Cimen and Gu are three further DJs who devoted their time and money to sharing the love for Deep Funk, Latin Styles, Boogaloo and Souljazz. It was Michael Hartung who kept the club going through the rough times and the good times, as this is his legacy.
For about five years now the Urban Jazz Groove is located at the Lagerhaus, Bremen every first friday of the month, hosted by the Urban Jazz Groove team. It's aim is to bring back rare and probably long unheard material back to the club-scene. Instead of replaying hits, it is focusing on turning unknown tracks into hits, Urban Jazz Groove hits.
Over the years the Urban Jazz Groove (and it's former side-event Urban Style Music) featured such guests as Keb Darge, Jazzanova, Kabuki, Frank Popp, The New Mastersounds, Rockers Hifi, Jazzman Gerald, Nick Recordkicks, Henry Storch and many many more.
Michael Hartung passed away in 2005 and we continue to celebrate the Urban Jazz Groove in his name as without him this unique event would not exist and would've not lasted for over 15 years. This site is dedicated to his memory!

FRAU KRAUSHAAR ist eine Tunesisch Deutsch Bayerische Künstlerin. Nach kurzen und kleinen Trips in fernen Ländern bleibt sie 2000 in Hamburg hängen und findet dort ein neues Zuhause. Seitdem nimmt sie rege am Leben der dortigen Musikszene teil. Singt für Gunter Adler..s neueste Platte Gesangspuren ein, orgelt zuweilen bei der Band von Dj Patex “School of Zuversicht”, gründet eigene temporäre Bandprojekte, lässt sich ein auf Konzerte oder Dj-Gig s mit Namosh, Melissa Logan, Jim Avignon, Richard von der Schulenburg, Miss Hawaii, Cute Gangsta Crew, Jan Gazzara, Felix Kubin, Carsten Meyer, Jacques Palminger and lots lots... oder beteiligt sich an einer Vielzahl von Kunstprojekten und Performances. Frau Kraushaar..s Herz schlägt für Lieder und schräge Melodien mit viel BumBum, daneben veröffentlicht sie auch experimentelle finnische Musik. Im vergangenen Jahr tourte sie unter anderem mit “NOVA HUTA” der unglaubliche Günter Reznicek - obwohl da dauernd die Fetzen fliegen, kehrt sie immer wieder zu ihm zurück, um mit ihm in den Kosmos der unendlichen Melodien zu entfliehen. Aber auch Namosh, der wilde Berliner Jung, hat es ihr angetan, immer öfter traktieren sie sich auf der Bühne, produzieren gemeinsam Lieder oder singen einträchtig von so wunderschönen Dingen, dass sie jedem Stein das Herz brechen können. Im fruchtigen Alter von 14 Jahren steht Frau Kraushaar zum ersten mal auf der Bühne und singt in der Punk Band “Die Schönen Menschen”. Mit 15 verlässt sie ihr Elternhaus zieht in eine Minibude, schmeisst kurzzeitig die Schule und nimmt Gesangsstunden. Von da an folgen New Wave, Mädchenpop, Krautrock und immer wieder wechselnde Nebenjobs, mit denen sie ihren Kühlschrankinhalt bezahlt. Zur Zeit studiert Frau Kraushaar an der “Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg”, beschäftigt sich mit Deleuze, Martha Graham und Heidegger und obwohl Musik eine wichtige Rolle in ihrem Leben spielt, ist ihr dieses Wechs
