Caffeinated and hungry for a new sound, Jordan Safer along with some of the best musicians in Montreal created the first Urban Preacher recordings in the dimly lit studio A at McGill University in Montreal between Nov-March 2007/2008. Over that 5 month period, the community of musicians recorded 9 songs penned by Safer and in April, he met Myrrhine Faller who had the right amount of soul and New York sass to lead the group into what would become scorching live performances. When summer rolled around, Jordan and Myrrhine moved to Toronto and they began the search for permanent band members. One by one they joined the congregation: David Henriques on bass, Justin Ruppel on drums, Neil Hendry on guitar and Anthony Rinaldi on sax.
Urban preacher's music is hard to classify into one genre; but the dirty, heavy southern rock sound is complemented by soulful vocals and catchy melodies. They have been testing out new material in venues across central Canada and are releasing their debut EP on Feb 3 before bringing their electric live show to your home town.
