About me:
For the past 19 years, UrbanPromise has been providing Christian-based Summer Camps, After School Programs, Job Training opportunities, Alternative Schools, and a host of other programs for young people in our city. Our children and teens have to navigate some incredibly difficult obstacles everyday. UrbanPromise has tried to walk alongside these young people by providing support, resources and opportunity.
Our vision is to encourage the development of a new generation of young leaders who will attend college, successfully transition into the job market, become productive citizens, and seek to improve their community.
To equip Camden's children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth and Christian leadership.

Who I'd like to meet:
Workgroups:
Each year college and high school students travel from across the United States and Canada to spend spring break or part of summer vacation assisting UrbanPromise in work projects and supporting outreach efforts to children and youth of Camden. Workgroup guests also engage in meaningful reflection on social and political issues facing poor urban communities. We also encourage and welcome local churches and corporate teams to come and serve UrbanPromise on Saturdays or any time throughout the year by assembling teams of people who desire to engage in acts of service like facilities maintenance. UrbanPromise relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers to maintain its facilities.
Interns:
We also invite you to come join our team and work with experiences staff in caring for the kids of Camden. Be an intern for the summer or the academic year. During the summer, you will have a week of innovative and motivating training to prepare you for relational ministry in the inner city. You and your team will work together to lead summer camps; teaching classes, participating in crazy games and skits, and running small discipleship groups. You will also participate in daily devotions, weekly inner city ministry classes and Sunday fellowship, where you will be able to learn, reflect and share about your experiences. On the weekends, we will have optional trips to New York City, Washington D.C., Ocean City, MD and Atlantic City. This is an action packed summer experience where you will be stretched to learn and grow, and hopefully at the same time, have the best time of your life. Come be an UrbanPromise Intern, experience the joy in serving. Be an intern for 10 months during the Academic year. The year offers everything the summer does but provides a more in depth experience of ministry in the city. Instead of summer camps, you will be working in our afterschool programs. There you will have the opportunity to be a vital part of the kids lives by building mentoring relationships.
If you open yourself up to this experience and allow God to use you, your life will never be the same.
