   About Urchin

Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin. It all started in a winter of the mid nineties; a winter whose dark nights long outstayed their welcome, either that or someone forgot to draw the curtains. Anyway, in a boudoir-come-studio lit by the dancing lights of echo boxes and strewn with records from lost musical eras, their once gaudy sleeves now musty and dog-eared, two shadowy figures busily worked the discs and dials until the clutch of tracks that became Urchin’s first album was assembled…..

From this introduction I will begin to describe the long and undulating journey through the leafy byroads and grassy bridleways of music that has led Urchin to this point in time.

Fortune smiled on the duo when they became acquainted with record producer Chris Bangs and an opportunity to remix a handful of tracks for his eccentric jazz project Mr.Electric Triangle was offered. The four completed remixes appeared on the album Kosmosis in Dub and this collaboration threw the then named Red Rum into the path of the 2Kool record label and a speculative album deal was struck. Buoyed by this enthusiasm the newly named Urchin spent the next year assembling the first album only to deliver it to a record label in terminal decline. However, links forged with Waveform records in the US proved solid and the self entitled release ensued.

The long-term hopes of Urchin remain: to experiment in the use of the scratch as a solo instrument and to translate their discoveries of obscure musical delights and sounds into little tomes to a curious audience.

Ello mate it's Nash here.

Sorry for leaving you so long your a great friend of mine.

Spending some time now going through your playlist here. All still as fresh as it was last time I listened to it.

Took the Next postie back to shop , the new chain started to stretch and I had to take off one double legged stand , I put on a new one more like the one on the Ex Postie that came off a Pashley Mailstar origional PO double legger , but the chain started rubbing on that one so I took it back to shop after splitting the chain and cocking up.

Next postie is fine now and a bright cotterless crank whell will be the next modification.

more than likely Smith Bros at Wimbledon.

How is life with you ?

regards.

Music is a moral law,
it gives wings to the mind,
a soul to the universe,
flight to the imagination,
a charm to sadness,
a life to everything,

Today was quite exiting . Used the Squirrel poker at Nash's garden to go fishing for Scwalbe bicycle tyres over a Lamp post.

=^~^=

Unfortunately they wont fit on the Post black's 26 1 1/2 chrome rims , slightly too small.

The Post black is also begining to change into it's own Ex Postie , dark blue hammered hammerite with Red left fork and red lamp bracket on other fork.

Watch this space

Please don't remove the "Swallows Waltz" any time soon! Best profile song ever!

Growbags finaly turned up today so I have planted up me 5 Tomato's now. Three in one in the main conservatory and two in a second bag in the smaller one , the latter growbag I have room for one more plant of my choice if need be.

Leeks are on the go and I have another pot starting to Germinate , also up to 20 small square black plastic pots with Lettuce seed freshly sown.

I think I will call it a day with Peas and Beans at Nash's Garden , the large conservatory is too damp and they keep going mouldy.

Your track Swallow's waltz when I listen makes me think of long gone scenes of old of which now reside only in postcards . A familiar street that one knows today to be much changed . In the mind sports a blanket of snowy innocence as large flakes fall . An ornamental gas lamp flickers outside a now shut up local shop , only the the glowing windows of the opposite homely Inn light up the gloom and deepening snow . A man in a trilby hat and canvas jacket braves the light but icy wind on his way homward.

Thats ok Urchin Jez , thanks for you cyclist to fellow cyclist concern.

If there is something I have always wanted , it's a basket . It would be grand if I could get an origional tubular carrier for the front of the Ex Postie.

Will be going to Germany at the end of the month to visit the Irmscher factory and the Nurburgring hopefully with some Vauxhall buddies.

So I dont have much time left to look for a replacement do I , or maybe I should think about continuing my search when I get back home.

Luckily SAGA Home insurance are sending me Mumsy Wumsy 200 squids to go towards my next Half Inchable mountain bike.

I got the Specialized HardRock in thebegining because I may have a Muscle wasting condition by the name of some wacky scientist that is attributed to my Aspergers gift.

The Specialized hardRock had RST Dampners with 100mm travel . I am now back to using the rather rigid Oversize Ridgeback Velocity ( 2001 ) and other bikes now.

See my Rides -1
