After an evening of high-stakes on-track drama through Road Atlanta's Turns 9, 10A and 10B, Chris Forsberg in the NOS/Maxxis/Genius Tools Nissan 350Z Roadster beat a tough Darren McNamara in the Falken/Sears/Mothers/Sparco Saturn Sky in the event finale to take home top honors on Saturday. Long Beach winner Ryan Tuerck and the Gardella Racing/Mobil 1/DuPont Pontiac Solstice toppled Joon Maeng and his Maxxis/LS Auto/CFR S13.5 240SX in the consolation round to earn third place at Round 2 of the 2009 championship.

Zero to D1: The Final Chapter
To say it has been a thrill ride watching driver Bryan Rogers and his team - primarily mechanic Andrew Ferguson, but also Nicole Lerma, Little Mike, Ferguson's brother Rob, Colin Frost and host of other support characters - put together Rogers' drift Nissan S13 240SX would be an understatement. The project started on a totally different trajectory, encountered lots of turbulence, but in the end came pretty darn close to hitting the target.

NATIONAL SPORT COMPACT RACING ASSOCIATION
This past weekend the newly renovated Palm Beach International Raceway (formerly Moroso Motorsports Park) was home to the season opener for the National Sport Compact Racing Association's Southeast region. After a successful pre-season event, the staff at the NSCRA took all the feedback and criticism they received to not only make their event bigger and better, but establish themselves as a formidable motorsports sanctioning body.

D1 GP USA ANAHEIM 2009
We expect D1 Grand Prix USA, offshoot of the popular Japanese drifting series, is right about now both patting itself on the back for making a successful return to America and - hopefully - taking a long, hard look at how to make Round Two run more smoothly. Round One in Anaheim at Angel Stadium on Saturday, for all its clear successes, did have a bunch of things go not quite to plan that had both fans and media going, "Huh?"

D1 Grand Prix USA Pro Drift returned to full operations on Saturday in grand style, as 2008 D1 Japan champion Daigo Saito slid the FNATS/Artworks Toyota Chaser past final-round opponent and '06 champ Nobushige Kumakubo in the Team Orange Subaru GC8 Impreza for the Round One win in Anaheim, Calif. Forrest Wang finished in third with the Full Race Nissan S13 240SX before a near-capacity crowd in the parking lot at Angel Stadium.

In much of the country, there is a time of the year when you have to start shopping for tires with treads made to help you navigate properly through snow. In these same areas, you also have to worry about proper heating for your home, or perhaps you do it old school and start chopping some wood for the fireplace. PUMA DOES THE GUMBALL
It's almost impossible to believe the Gumball 3000 Rally turns 11 this year. Seriously, how has it not been completely shut down by the long arm of the law? Organizers publicize the rich-guy exotic caravan and all the recklessness it inspires, and it's even given that at least a few of the people on the tour will end up in the pokey. Yet it continues to happen year in and out, as though the local authorities all along the route are just praying to hit their citation quota jackpot in one fell swoop.
