About me:

Born in Virginia, spent most of my life in Canada. Settled in Mission BC for now. It is a town that is growing in its support of art and alternatives to mainstream thought.

Although I graduated from Philadelphia University of the arts in 88, i have since explored man sorts of media. The main theme has been about relationships and transforming ordinary.

My faith teachings has been a big part of my work. Both in my resistance to it and understanding. I was raised mennonite, a preachers kid, but have been studying native theology and Raj Yoga and see that there are many different ways to understand and perceive life. My work is about inspiring and engaging others to new ways of looking at life.

Photography, video, collage, painting.

I enjoy teaching others about the visual language and abstraction and self expression. Its simple really, how conencted to my authentic self can i be and how much can i trust my heart and deepest wisdom. We all have this and sometime children are more in alignment with this than adults.

I have a heritage house along a main street of town that is a classroom for art classes and therapy sessions. We have a community garden in the back yard. My kids do school at home. www.selfdesign.com. We also a host speakers that teach about what they know. about their cultures, and have circles meetings for family constellations and non-violent communication. www.cnvc.org.

Recently, I have trained to be a community facilitator for restorative justice. This is amazing work and many of what could start a life of conflict and prison, is stopped when community support is gathered to amend the damage done and resolve the conflict by uniting all the pieces and surrendering to the circle process.

See www.oktopus.ca if you are interested in finding out how art can be for social change. This is a project that we have started to address infrastructure breakdown in our town and heal the residential school tradition basis for this town.
