Something rather different to the norm is happening in Bradford City Centre this weekend as SUNDAY FUNDAY the random and artistic 100% NOT FOR PROFIT monthly festival returns with a festive BANG!!!!! to the LOVE APPLE CAFÉ (near the Alhambra Theatre) with seven hours of chilled-out creativity including music, art, and dance.
With a participatory African drumming workshop (using djembe drums) courtesy of Leeds-based drum facilitators DAFTASADRUM, those crafty HOBNOB DJs from the Escape Bar at Bradford Uni, meaningful Manchester acoustic lyricist AL BAKER, another Mancunian DJ EMZLY spinning deep house, Leeds breakbeat wizard DJ IMMI from female DJ agency WOMBEATZ), and more, SUNDAY FUNDAY is here to stay.
There's a random and chaotic CIRCUS JAM combining improvised music and live stunts, featuring rhythmic drummer ARSHAD). Not forgetting scintilating artwork from artist LIX (working on an installation at Bradford Uni), projections from WIZARDLY VISIONS ("Raise The Roof").
Mainstage, there's vibrant sexy danceable live Bradford-based Latin outfit SALSA COMO LOCO, electronic experimentalists ALT TRACK and fresh from BOPS, INSPIRATIONAL SOUND (Dublab).
My Sorrow, when she's here with me, Thinks these dark days of autumn rain Are beautiful as days can be; She loves the bare, the withered tree; She walks the sodden pasture lane.
Her pleasure will not let me stay. She talks and I am fain to list: She's glad the birds are gone away, She's glad her simple worsted grey Is silver now with clinging mist.
The desolate, deserted trees, The faded earth, the heavy sky, The beauties she so truly sees, She thinks I have no eye for these, And vexes me for reason why.
Not yesterday I learned to know The love of bare November days Before the coming of the snow, But it were vain to tell her so, And they are better for her praise.
