I got my first guitar when I was 10, some wierd thing my stepfather brought back from Mexico. I put the strings on upside down and learned some chords that way left handed. I soon realized nothing made sense or sounded right and put the strings on to better fit my right handed nature. I kinda fucked around with this for a few years but wasn't very serious being a pre teen and more concerned with other things. When I was 15 or so my older brother found some shit electric guitar in a dumpster at Evergreen college, I think it was a Harmony. Not being able too afford an amp I took apart a tape deck and wired a guitar cord onto the wires coming from the tape head so my guitar was plugged right into the shitty stereo. The pickups putting out so many more watts than the original tape head it was a little fuzz box with infinite sustain. I lived off the grid at this time as well so I rewired the stereo to run on 12 volts DC, most of them them do anyway so you just have bypass the AC/DC transformer. I fucked with this awhile and pissed off my dad who was not musically inclined and didn't understand or approve. I used to take the whole setup to school and get stoned skip class and just sit and make noise in the common's. Most people thought I was kinda strange and either avoided me or got me drunk in the parking lot. I still had my mexican acoustic guitar as well and carried that around everywhere I went although I still hadn't really wrote a song. I used to drink ton's of coffee and walk around in the rain at night in Quilcene Wa. the little town of less than 1000 people I lived in at the time and just write wierd shit while walkin all lonely with the barkin dogs and drunk hicks driving by yelling and throwing beer cans at me. Around this time I discovered weed smoking and acid and started experimenting heavily as well and trying to record music on a little boombox while tripping my nut's off. I wish I still had those tapes. I dropped out of school when I was 16 and started hanging out in Port Townsend a slightly larger seaport town 20 miles north from where I was. I would stay up for 2 day's jacked on coffee and no doz and take the bus into Port Townsend. This is when I discovered the Boiler Room a youth run non profit kinda underground coffeshop I played my first open mic here too not much acclaim. Most people thought my music came from alien's. I made a bunch of money during the summer and bought a Fender Squier electric guitar which is just a cheesy Strat and my Stepdad gave me his old fender twin amp which ruled. Around this time I bought a Leslie organ amp with the tremolo curcuit in it from some meth head for 10 bucks and rolled it the three miles up the highway home on my skateboard. I blew this this same amp up 6or7 years later when I lost the control switch for it and tryed to hot wire it. The capacitors melted and filled my house with smoke and turned the wall black my room smelled like burnt PCBs for a week but it sure made some amazing sounds for a couple minutes! I would play the Squier through the fender into the leslie and it was amazing but I still didn't really have any songs. I sold all this stuff and moved too Maine with my girlfriend and live there for 8 months and came back when we broke up and bought a van and moved too Olympia where my brother lived. I lived in my van in the rain on some hippie compound for awhile and actually wrote some tunes. I got sick of Oly and moved back too PT. The Boiler Room had moved by this time too a different location and I went and played at Open Mic Some people where down including my sometimes Drummer Anthony who Lives in San Francisco now and run's the Tape Label Caligulan. He was only 10 at the time but he was there with his dad and still remembers the tunes which I have long forgot. I still lived in my van and was parked in front of Kimya Dawsons house on Spruce street where she lived with some other folks who where just putting together the Moldy Peaches They talked me into driving them too New York to play the Anti Folk Festival that summer so I left PT with 10 cent's, They where paying for gas. There where 5 people a drum kit and other crap in my van and it broke down in Montana of course near missoula right underneath the Testical Festival sign on I 90 me and buddy Jest common's hitchhiked too Missoula several times and got parts and sorta fixed the van and continued on too New York where they Played the Anti Folk thing and I continued on too Maine where I stayed for the summer driving a little tractor around an old Orchard and picking apples listening too bluegrass on a little boom box I was staying with friends off the grid on this mountain top which they owned. I drove back too Washington in the fall after saving some money and I was 21 by now so I started playing around bars and such in PT and begin to get a name for myself around town. alot of "Proper Musicians" hated me but the ones with a little more imagination loved it. I had quite a few songs by this time and had a friend River who played drums, He was insane and played like animal from the Muppets. The songs Changed every time we played them. But this was the Original incarnation Of the LoveDollSwingers which is Still my band besides the solo UsanaTron stuff. We played for quite awhile before he went on to other things and I attracted the attention of my current Bass player Walter because he heard a CD I was making at a local studio Crush A/V with another drummer Miro. He learned all the song's and after the CD came out ( which is hard too find now but is actually pretty good and if you want a copy I can get you one) We begin playing together. We have very good Chemistry together and started playing with another drummer singer songwriter Jarrod Bramson of The Solvents we played some shows and eventually made another CD (Creature Sleeper) which you can get a copy of as well if you get in touch with me. I got a Fostex 4 track and started recording a bunch of wierd solo stuff with found sound old thrift store effects and electric and acoustic guitars and keyboards. These became known as the UsanaTron tapes and I have a suitcase of these which will all be released someday (coming soon on the Caligulan tape label will be a 20 minute release) I live in Portland now and am working on the next couple of albums and playing around town as much as I can. I am looking for a good drummer and a local bass player as Walter still lives up in PT. The tracks on this site where recorded on my 4 track cassette in 2004. This is a short Bio cause Im tired but I will be playing somewhere near you soon.>

Good show dude! It was nice that you pulled out "teal 4 Real"! When the "ladies" told you to turn it down a little I was hoping you would play "how did you learn to fuck like a girl"... Thank you for playing my favorite, man.
We're playing a great show with The Joe McMurrian Quartet (now Woodbrain) and Eggplant this Thursday. It's a super solid evening of rocking roots music dripping in blues and jazz. Hope to see you there! ~~C
